A Slip of The Eyes

~Morgana's POV~

Morgana slipped through the busy streets. The air was loud with children's laughter, the air filled with the smell of the wood smoke and herbs. The afternoon sunlight gave the street a warm glow.

Her maid, Gwen, walking politely behind her, throwing glances at the stalls around them. She was trying to secretly find Morgana a gift for her birthday. As she tucked a flyaway strand of her mahogany hair behind her ear, something caught her eye.

It was a beautiful comb, made of marble, carved to look like a horse's head. Noticing that Gwen had stopped, Morgana turned, and walked over to the vendor's stall that held her maid's attention.

Beautiful, shimmering cloths were draped over the front. Intrigued, she leaned in closer. There were in many colours: crimson like the Pendragon crest, gold like the brightest cornfield, blue as light as the sky, and green like the emerald forest that encased Camelot.

After bartering with the vendor for a purple cloth, she continued walking down the street.

'It's a beautiful day isn't it Gwen?' Morgana asked her maid. There was no reply. 'Gwen?'

Morgana turned back to see Gwen wrapping something in a simple brown cloth, before hurrying back to Morgana's side. She smiled brightly.

'Sorry my lady, I was busy.' She breathlessly grinned.

'It's alright. Now, how about we go and find that busy partner of yours?' Morgana grinned.

Grabbing Gwen's hand, Morgana raced through the crowds to the Knight's training field. There was Leon, Elyan and Percival standing, laughing, next to the arena. Merlin was sitting down, and had Arthur's shield in his hand, fixing it. As per usual.

Surely enough, there was Lancelot, sword in hand, circling a blonde Knight. Judging from the stance of the blonde, it had to be Arthur. Morgana groaned. No one else held themselves with such an air of self importance.

Arthur was clad in his usual red shirt and belt while Lancelot poised gracefully with his loosely open white shirt and brown wrist guards, hair blowing gently. The blades whipped through the air as the fought, smooth and agile.

The sound was deafening, as the two metals furiously hit each other, bouncing off, only to be arced through the air once more. With a final swing, the blades met with a parry. Arthur grunted, and placed his sword back on the rack behind him.

'Well done, Lancelot!' Morgana shouted.

He smiled slowly. 'Thank you my Lady.'

He bowed his head, then saw Guinevere, and smiled elatedly. He thrust his sword into the ground, then jogged over to them, wavy hair bouncing as he ran. He pulled Gwen into his arms, and kissed the top of her spiralled hair.

'I see that no good brother of mine is back off to his boyfriend again.' Morgana smirked, as she saw Arthur saunter off to his manservant.

No matter how much Arthur and Merlin tried to hide their secret, all the closet Knights, Morgana and Gwen knew the extent of their true relationship.

Gaius suspected of course, over the years of having Merlin occasionally come in unusually late at night.

'If the two of them are happy, there are no complaints from me.' Lancelot smiled.

Then Arthur dived in quickly to kiss Merlin's forehead, hands on either side of his waist.

'Then again...'

Morgana and Gwen laughed, as Merlin started messing up Arthur's already sticking-up hair, just to annoy him. Gwen, who currently had one arm linked in Lancelot's, started fussing at a small scrape on his arm. Morgana smiled to herself as the two bickered lovingly.
