(Destiny's POV)
I've been in L.A. for about two weeks now and I have a job. I work at this local coffee shop called 'Lamill coffee boutique.' It's this cute coffee shop that I just stumbled into in the process of exploring Los Angeles. I got the job pretty quick for two reasons, I have experience because my father forced me to get a job back in Ohio, and because they were in desperate need of people.
I've been working so much lately day and night have started to blend together. Along with this job, I've also been going through Los Angeles Recording School, which is not as easy as I imagined it to be. I have classes from 8 in the morning to 1 in the afternoon and work from 1:30 to close at seven on weekdays and open to close on the weekends.
It was a Friday September 21st and I've been here for 3 hours and I need of some of this place's strong coffee. Last night I ended up pulling an all-nighter trying to finish my project for the quarter. There's been next to absolutely no one in here, why would there be? It's 4:30 in the afternoon, who the hell wants to get coffee at 4:30 in the afternoon? Just as this thought crossed my mind, a dude who looked to be about my age walked in. He had dark brown 'emo' hair, glasses, and behind those glasses were the most piercing green eyes I'd ever seen. Along with all that, he also had a thyroid cancer ribbon on his forearm.
"Hi, what can I get for you today, sir?" I asked putting on my, at least, slight happy voice I have to use with customers. "Uh hi, uh, just a venti iced cinnamon dolce latte please" The guy said. he had this strange way of talking, like he was analyzing every word before he said it, and never made eye contact, but rather his eyes kept darting around the room. "Can I get a name for that order?" I asked, as politely as possible. "oh uh, I'm uh, I'm Dylan" Huh, Dylan, that's a weird name. It's pronounced odd to, not dill-an but dial-an. After he ordered his coffee, we started talking about nothing and everything all at once, well in all honesty, it was me talking to him and him muttering in response for the first couple minutes. After that though, he seemed to loosen up, and even made a CrankThatFrank reference. "you're a pretty family friendly alternative person" Dylan said with a laugh. I literally almost screamed in happiness. Well, actually there was no almost about it, I did scream. "YOU WATCH CRANKTHATFRANK TOO!?!?!?!" I exclaimed. Look, I can explain. There weren't many yeemo's back where I lived. After that awkward moment, he finished his coffee and left, but not without giving me his number first, so we can 'keep in touch' For the first time since leaving my so called 'home' I felt truly happy.
