"Push me to the edge, all my friends are dead....."

--------------------------------

Hurriedly you shoved the piece of paper into your purse and wiped the bood you had touched into the dark fabric of your hoodie to hide it from Kaede.

"Is something wrong mommy, it doesn't usually take this long to open the door.." Kaede asked in a worried tone.

"Don't worry baby, I was just using the wrong key, we'll be inside and warm in a few seconds" you said before sending him a small smile.

Finally you actually pulled the key out and inserted it into the lock, you made sure that Kaede was behind you so that if someone was in the house they wouldn't know he was with you.

Once you opened the door, it was worse than you could have imagined. Body parts were strewn everywhere, someone's intestines were spinning slowly on the ceiling fan, and the carpet was so red it looked black.

Quickly you turned and shut the door behind you, leaving Kaede staring up at you in confusion.

"Change of plans, how would you like to spend the night at your aunt Meiko's house?"

His eyes sparkled at the mention of her name "R-really? But its a school night.."

You brushed him off with a fake laugh, " take tomorrow off, you deserve it, come on lets go" you said before grabbing his hand and quickly walking toward the car, with your other hand you were dialing kaneki's number.

"Mommy, is something wrong? You can tell me" kaede attempted to coax.

But you just looked at him and shook your head to let him know that now was not the time.

Kaneki didn't answer your call, and you began to get a bit worried.

"Put your seatbelt on" you mumbled before putting your own seatbelt on and quickly turning to make sure his was on properly.

Once you knew you were safe, you stepped on the gas pedal, not wanting to waste any time getting to your best friends house so that kaede could be safe, or at least safer than at your house right now.

You arrived in less than 15 minutes, dropped kaede off and immediately grabbed your phone to once again call kaneki and attempt let him know the situation.

He didn't answer.

He didn't answer any of the 17 times you had called him.

Bad thoughts began to surface in your brain.

What if the body parts and blood everywhere was his blood? After all, no ghoul would waste a good meal as finger paint for your carpets...

You drove even faster, your heart racing in fear as you thought of the worst possible scenarios.

You had no weapons, and knew that going was probably unsafe, but you were confident you could win a fight against another ghoul if you had to.

You didn't know how, but what you did know is that you knew you could fight, and very well.

After all, learning to fight was the whole purpose of your torture...

When you finally reached home you ran without paying attention to your surroundings, but what shocked you wasn't what you would have thought

"I- what?"

Was this it?

Had you finally gone crazy?

"Hey, (Y/n), is that you?" You heard Kaneki's voice from down the hallway.

The perfectly clean hallway might you add..

Not one trace of the blood and gore you had seen everywhere at all.

"What's wrong, you seem scared or something" Kaneki who was now directly in front of you asked.

You shook your head to clear your thoughts, and decided not to let Kaneki know what you had seen, just in case you actually were going crazy...

"I-I called you like twenty times and you didn't answer so I got worried" you said shakily

"I was showering at Anteiku after I ate, it got a bit.... Messy. Anyways where's Kaede?" He said while running his hands through his white hair

"I took him to Meiko's house because I was worried"

"Well I'm fine, but I don't think you are, maybe you should take a shower and then go to bed"

Not wanting to worry about whether or not you had finally lost it, you agreed with a nod of your head, and made your way to the bathroom.

Kaneki let out a low sigh as you left, quickly heading toward the window where he pulled back the thick navy blue curtains to wipe away bloodied hand prints and destroy a red soaked piece of paper.

It was a good thing you didn't notice.
