*Jocelyn's POV*
"I'm tired of unpacking." Travis walked in my room while I was on the phone with Naomi, my best friend.
"Hold on." I said to Naomi. "What?"
"I'm tired." He repeated, louder this time. "I'm gonna go get some frozen yogurt."
"Oh. Bring me back my favorite."
"Fine. I'm gonna need my money back, though."
"Sure, whatever."
"I'll be back." He walked out my room and left the apartment.
Today my little brother Travis moved into my campus apartment with me. He's a freshman and I'm a sophomore at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. He's now a D1 college basketball player and I couldn't be prouder.
I hated living alone because I'm not gonna lie- I despise doing chores by myself; hopefully he'll make things easier for me. He can be a pain in the ass, so I wouldn't be surprised if he gets on my nerves sometimes. Sometimes I think that if we were born from the same mother we'd be just alike. Sadly, we only have the same father but our dad is with Travis's biological mom, and she's kind of a nuthead. I never liked her but I pretend to. I honestly miss my real mom, who left Dad for who knows what.
"Jocelyn?" Naomi called my name.
"Huh? Sorry." I apologized. I'm always drifting off.
"You just went dead on me."
"I was daydreaming."
"As always. Hey, you remember that tall dude that went to Kinston with us?" She asked.
"Umm, no." I tried to think. There were a lot of tall guys there.
"I can't remember his name. I saw him around campus earlier today. He has twists now, he used to have a fade."
"You'll have to show me." I pondered. My mind is completely blank right now.
"Girl, he was the best basketball player there."
"Still clueless." I shrugged.
Naomi and I stayed on the phone for another hour talking about nothing. My brother came home with my frozen yogurt and I was so satisfied with life. Our classes start tomorrow, but my first class isn't until 10 A.M. I want this semester to go by quick, and I have no time for any drama in my life.
"Jocelyn." Travis knocked on my open door. "Time to go to sleep."
"Travis, shut up." I threw my remote at him and he went running. He's already turning annoying.

Today was the first day of classes, I hope it goes by smoothly like last year. Travis was already awake and in the bathroom, luckily we have two so I don't have to worry about sharing.
"Morning ugly. I'm off to class." Travis knocked twice on the door. He better not make this a habit. His class starts at 8:00, then he has basketball practice at 1:00.
"Be good, have fun." I waved while scrolling through my phone. I could really go back to sleep but I'm scared I may not wake up on time. I'll just wash my face and do whatever until 9.
*timeskip*
"I'm walking to class now." I said on the phone with my dad. "Travis should be just finishing his."
"Okay. I'm so proud of you both. Elisa is too." Dad praised. He always wanted us to go to college and experience it, even if we don't finish all four years.
"Thanks." I muttered. Hearing my stepmom's name annoys me.
"You're gonna have to like her one day, Jocelyn. But have a good day, love you."
"Love you too." I said, and hung up the phone. While I was hanging up, I accidently bumped into someone and hit my head.
"...Ouch." I grabbed my head and looked up at the person. Their back was facing me but they quickly turned around.
"Are you okay?" The male asked. He looked familiar, too. His height was what really caught my attention.
"Yeah. Do I know you?"
"You bumped into me, shorty." He laughed.
"You may be 7 feet, but I'm not that short." I defended. I'm 5'5, and I've seen shorter.
"6'9. I'm surprised you didn't see me."
"I was on my phone, sorry." I got a good look at him and he was pretty cute. He had long twists and lazy eyes.
"Just watch where you're going next time." He warned, with a sarcastic tone.
"I'll try." I softly smiled and kept walking to class. I hope to see him around more, he seems cool.

My classes were over for today, we didn't do much but get introduced to the class and professors. Travis was already at the apartment and I'm on food duty. I went to the city to buy us some Freddy's, they have the best chicken sandwiches in the world.
I made it to the apartment before 6 and we sat together to eat while we talked about our first day. I got a call from Naomi, who I haven't spoken to all day which is strange for us. She heard about a party off-campus this weekend, I don't even like parties that much but I always go because I can't trust her to make good decisions by herself.
I'm really excited for this year, I have a feeling it'll be better than last year since I'm used to the school and I have my little brother with me, so I know it won't be a boring year for us.
