*Jocelyn's POV*

I only had two classes today because one of my professors decided not to show up. I spent the rest of the day with Naomi, she came over and we went to Waffle House.

"You've been texting Brandon, huh." She looked at my phone and saw his name pop up.

"Yeah." I picked up my phone to read what he sent, Naomi was giving me a weird look. "What?"

"Y'all would be cute." She sipped her orange juice and I laughed. He texted me back since I told him I was going to Waffle House and he was at practice now, but steady texting me.

Lol fine but you gotta pay me back

"He wants me to buy him a waffle." I said to Naomi, putting my phone down. She mumbled 'hungry ass' and I went to place another order. When I came back to our table Naomi was mugging me.

"Why do you keep looking at me like that?" I asked, breaking the silence.

"Cause you obviously like him and it's cute!"

"He's just a friend. I don't even know him like that."

"How long have y'all been talking?"

"We're not at that level yet." I held my hand up in a 'stop' gesture. "We've been friends for like a week now."

"Hmm but you already buying him food." She squinted her eyes.

"The only reason I bought it is because he agreed to paying me back." I told her. It's too early in this friendship to be buying him gifts with nothing in return.

"And I'm telling Travis you talking to his teammate." She threatened.

"He won't care." I shrugged. Travis has always been over protective of me with guys, and I've only had two boyfriends in the past. He never let me go out alone with them or let them stay at the house with me by ourselves. He gets in full dad-mode and it's so annoying, I hope since we're in college he won't feel like he needs to do that.

Naomi dropped me off at my house and she went to her dorm. I saw my brother was home from practice because his car was here. I unlocked the door and put my leftovers in the kitchen. I heard Travis yelling in the living room so I went to speak to him.

"Hey." I said, he turned around and Brandon was also here. What a coincidence he came over, or maybe he did on purpose.

"What's up sis." Travis waved and Brandon just smiled at me. I almost forgot I bought him that waffle.

"B, your food's in the kitchen." I notified.

"Thanks, J." He mocked his nickname. "How much was it?" He asked, standing up.

"Four thirty." I answered.

"Here." He pulled out his wallet and gave me his library card.

"Stop playing, Brandon." I threw the card back at him and he laughed, then gave me five dollars. It was always more awkward to talk to him in person than on the phone or texting. I thanked him and was about to go upstairs until I heard Travis's voice.

"You didn't get me anything?" He asked.

"It's a waffle and hashbrowns leftover in the kitchen." I offered my food. He has been a good brother lately, so I should've got him something.

"I'm in there then." He put his controller down and went to the kitchen. I went upstairs to my room, I was tired and been out all day.

I was in my room listening to music, the time was past nine and I didn't have classes tomorrow so I can stay up however late I want to. Brandon was still here, I heard them playing a game downstairs and blasting their music. Footsteps were coming up the stairs and my door opened shortly after. I turned around and saw Brandon's face through the door crack.

"What are you doing?" I asked. "Creep."

"I'm checking on you. I didn't wanna walk into anything." He walked in and sat on my bed.

"You're gross." I looked at him weird and turned back to my laptop. The song changed to Tay-K "Lemonade" and I started dancing in my seat to the beat.

"You like Tay-K?" Brandon asked.

"Yeah." I spun around in my chair and held up some gang signs that I usually see Tay-K holding up in videos.

"You better put that down before someone come in and shoot yo' ass." Brandon warned, jokingly.

"So who you listen to?" I asked, not knowing anything about his music taste.

"Herbo all day."

"I don't really listen to him." I felt his presence hover over me and he looked up some G-Herbo songs. He played "Who Run It" and started bopping his head to it, I didn't like this song at all so I was trying to hold in my laughter.

"He off-beat as hell..." I commented while turning the song off. Brandon just looked at me like he was mad.

"He ain't even off-beat, you just don't know music." He sucked his teeth.

Travis called Brandon from downstairs and he walked to the door. "Well I'ma go, we got one more quarter then I'm going back to my dorm. I'll hit you up tomorrow."

"Okay. Night, Brandon." I lazily waved as he left my room.
