I didn't actually realise how much time had passed between my uploads and for that I'm sorry. Heads up though I wrote the beginning of this chapter right before exam block all stressed and stuff and then the end half was rushed so that I could just upload something for you guys. I've not even read through it so fingers crossed it actually makes sense. Is it even in english?! haha <3

The ride back to Nora’s was as uncomfortable as the ride to school. The three of them had no trouble gossiping about teachers, students, classes and upcoming events. From what I could figure, Hera was younger than the three of us but she hung around her brother and usually did whatever he was doing and had some of the same classes as us (I don’t get how that works but I didn’t care enough to ask). I sighed as we pulled into the cul de sac, today had taken a bigger toll on my body than I had realised. I ached everywhere and all I really wanted to do was rest, a good long proper rest from everything. I wasted no time getting inside trying to convince myself that I was in fact invisible.

“Ren” the voice seemed to come from a far distance and I stumbled on my feet as my eyes struggled to adjust to the different lighting inside. “Ren?!” The voice repeated sounding much closer and concerned. My head stopped spinning and I recognised Athos peering at me, far too close for comfort. I took an obvious step away from him just as his hand came up to steady me.

“Yes” I croaked. He stared at me a moment longer to make sure I was fine

“Just came to remind you that training starts this afternoon.” He said cautiously. “Do you wanna grab some food or a drink first?” He offered. Just the idea of food made my stomach twist so I shook my head. “Alright then…this way.” I followed him through the hallways trying to focus on anything but my pounding head. We ended up in a room that looked like a business conference room mixed with a comfortable media room. There was a small oval table that faced towards a projector and not much else.

I took a seat trying to steady my shallow breathing. The door opened and a few people settled in around the table (thankfully no one chose the seats next to me).  I let my eyes sweep the table rapidly once before falling back onto the table.  There was four people here; Athos, a man in his early 40’s, a woman in her early 60’s and surprisingly…Julian.

“Ah so we’re all here to kick-start the training of a new member” Athos began and all eyes fell on me. “It’s a bit of a special case so Nora has asked us, as the best in our field of work, to personally train Ren here.” He spoke specifically to the two middle aged people who to their credit hid to curiosity well and simply nodded. Julian’s gaze flitted around before settling on me his eyebrows drawn together.

“So Ren, are you sure this is what you want? There is no half in half out here.” Athos questioned seriously. Is this what I wanted? I mean I’ve gone this long in my life without knowing, did I wanna cross that bridge.

‘Those days are gone’ I reminded myself. I can’t really explain why I nodded my head but I did.

“In which case you should know that we are really just a global community that conducts business and we look after our workers and their families. That is the basics. This is Ismênê” He said gesturing to the woman. Ismênê was a traditional Grecian name and from memory it meant knowledge. I’m sure it was also the name of a character in an myth but I couldn’t really remember what it was about.

“She’s going to be the one teaching you about…everything. About the history of the business, how it operates, what we do, how the community works. She’s pretty much a lovely encyclopaedia.” Athos said smiling gently at the old lady whose eyes still sparkled with keen understanding despite her aged physical appearance.
