Having Fun For Once

"Hey, Clem. It's Gabe and I wanted to tell you to wear something you feel comfortable in and something you can run and jump in. I'll see you in a couple hours, bye!"

My face contorted into a frown from hearing Gabe's voicemail he left me earlier while I was in the shower. Mariana once again tried assisting me on getting ready for this date, but I told her thing only thing she would be doing is watching AJ for the night. I checked the clock and seen I had two hours before Gabe would come and pick me up.

Thump! Thump! Thump! Thump!

My heart started going 90 to nothing as I thought about Gabe and our date. I hadn't felt this jittery about my date with Duck, but Gabe was not Duck. Not by a long shot. I smiled a little to myself as I recalled Gabe's little celebration he had with himself and shook my head before getting back to work on picking out an outfit.

I decided on wearing my favorite pair of blue jeans with a simple white shirt and my pair of white Chuck Taylor's. I sprayed mousse in my hair to make it frizzy, but a controlled frizz. I also applied a little bit of makeup and a light coat of lipgloss. I brushed my teeth two more times just to be on the safe side and dabbed some perfume on my neck.

Ring! Ring!

I looked down at my phone to see that Gabe was calling me.

"Hello?"

"Hey, I'm outside."

"Alright, I'm coming down."

I hung up the phone, looked at myself one more time and walked outside. Gabe was leaning up against a black motorcycle and had two helmets in his hands. He was looking down at his shoes, but he glanced up upon hearing me close and lock my door. Gabe's jaw dropped a little and blush lightly dusted his cheeks and seeing him blush made me blush. I grinned at his shocked expression and that made him shake his head and returned my grin with a sweet smile of his own.

"You're looking amazing, detective."

I rolled my eyes as he called me that and took the helmet he handed me.

"Thanks, Garcia. You're looking pretty good yourself."

That was a huge understatement because Gabe was looking like a freaking Calvin Klein model with some jeans that hugged him in all the right places and a white shirt that was tight across his chest. I placed the helmet on my head to cover up the blush that was creeping up my neck and making me feel a little flushed at the collar. Gabe swung his leg over the bike and placed his helmet on as well. He patted the seat behind him and I climbed up and seated myself right behind him.

"Might wanna hold onto me, Clem. Wouldn't want you to fly off."

"I'm fine. Just start the damn bike, Gabe."

About the time I said Gabe, he started up the bike and took off. I let out a screech and clung onto Gabe as we flew down the street. Gabe's chest jumped up and down and I realized he was laughing at me, but I could give a shit less because I was currently holding onto him for dear life. I eventually loosened up my hold on him the further we went down the road and watched the cars as we passed by them. The bike came to a stop as we approached a red light and Gabe put his feet down to keep up upright. I leaned back and my eyes took in the sight of Gabe's back.

Holy shit.

His white shirt was stretched across his back and I could make out multiple places on his skin that were raised. My fingertips lightly skimmed over them and I felt Gabe freeze up, but the light turned green and we took off again. Mariana's words came back to me as I wrapped my arms around Gabe's midsection.

"Gabe's back is covered with scars from David's belt buckle and his chest has multiple scars from getting stabbed and sliced up from David."

That son of a bitch.

I was so caught up in cursing David's name that I didn't even realize we had stopped and Gabe parked the bike.

"Hey, Clementine. We're here."

His voice startled me and I looked to see him outstretching his hand to me to help me get off. I took it and decided to ask him about the scars later on because I finally looked to see where we were.

Dave & Buster's

I took off the helmet and handed it to Gabe as he took off his own and we walked inside. Gabe handed the helmets to our hostess and we were seated at a booth. I ordered what I wanted and Gabe did the same and we were left by ourselves.

"So, what exactly is this place?"

Gabe took a sip of his water and grinned at me.

"It's like an adult arcade. I figured you deserved to be a kid sometimes and thought this would be the perfect place."

I smiled at his words and couldn't help it as my heart did a small skip. We ate our food quickly and made our way around the arcade and played almost every game they had. We played beer pong, Pac-Man, and also played some Resident Evil and I kicked his ass on that.

"That's cheating. You're a cop and have to be a good shot."

"Well, you're a pretty good shot too and I have a scar on my leg to prove it."

Gabe grimaced as I brought up that he had shot me and I laughed as he started apologizing and I told him I was just teasing him. We played for what seemed like hours before going to turn in our tickets at the counter and got some prizes. Gabe picked out a cliche big teddy bear and gave it to me with a wink. We left the place laughing and placed our helmets back on and stuffed the bear between me and him so it wouldn't fly off. I thought we made it to my house way too soon and Gabe walked me up to the front door.

"I had a great time tonight, Clementine. I hope to do this again and soon."

"Definitely. And I also had fun tonight. Thank you for letting me be a kid again, I had almost forgot what it felt like."

Gabe grinned and handed me the helmet I gave back to him.

"It's yours. I plan to take you on many more rides, if you let that is. How about next time I steal Mariana's Jeep and we can bring AJ somewhere with us?"

I took the helmet back and nodded in agreement.

"Yeah, I'd like that. Goodnight, Gabe."

"Goodnight, Clemmy."

As I turned to walk inside, Gabe grabbed my hand and stole a kiss on the cheek before bolting to his bike. I froze up and looked to see him grinning like a cat that ate the canary and placing on his helmet. He waved goodbye and took off done the street before I could even wave back.

"That little shit."
