Liberty's POV

-•-

Laying in bed lifelessly, I was rudely awaken by my mothers drunk slurring for me to get up. I mean honestly who the fuck is drunk at 8 in the morning.

Obviously my mom.

Reluctantly, I threw my legs over the side of my bed and got ready for school. Making sure cover up the scar on my neck.

I slowly made my way downstairs knowing what was waiting for me. As if on command my mom came bounding in with a broken beer bottle in her hand.

"It broke" she slurred. Giving me an innocent look as if she wasn't capable of what I knew what she was about to do.

Painstakingly slow, she bent over and picked up a piece of glass that had fallen from the broken bottle, examining it thoroughly before making her way towards me.

She lifted her hand with the glass piece and slowly dragged it down my cheek, staring in awe at the crimson liquid that trickled down my face.

Almost like snapping out of a trance she dropped the piece of glass and plopped onto the love seat, quickly falling into a deep slumber.

Not having enough time to clean up my cut, I wiped my cheek with my sleeve and grabbed my skateboard and made my way to the torture that is school.

Speed walking to locker I exchanged my skateboard for my books and started my way down the hall to first period.

Usually by now I would be curled up in a ball on the floor exposing the contents of my stomach all over the hall floor while the janitor had to help me to the nurses.

As if sensing that things weren't how they were supposed to be, Lennox came flaunting around the corner with her boy toy, Alban, throwing a sadistic grin my way.

"Sup, S-stutter"

Oh did I mention I have a stutter problem? Well I do and it has to do with the scar on my neck.

"P-p-p-please n-no" I whispered almost sheepishly. I knew she wouldn't listen but Alban never did anything, to join or to stop it.

God; hearing my prayers let the bell ring, cutting of Lennox's stalk towards me like I was a box of French fries.

Quickly, I made my way to first period completely oblivious to the fact that I still had a giant gash on my right cheek.

Quietly I opened the door, everyone's eyes instantly averting towards me, but more specifically my face and the cut that rested on it.

"Your cheek Ms. Anton. It's bleeding"

Yeah no shīt

"I k-know"

"Then why are you here and not in the nurses office"

"I c-couldn't be l-late" I replied cheekily earning an unamused glare from the teacher and a few snickers from classmates.

"You're late anyways" the teacher mumbled

"Okay! Eden Hughes, accompany her to the nurses office please."

Fuck, fuck, fuck, shit. Fuck!

That dudes scary as shit, like he's scarier than public speaking.

I opened my mouth to protest but was cut off by someone grabbing my wrist and dragging me out of the door. Not feeling comfortable with the tingles that shot through my arm I tried to yank my hand back but the person only gripped my hand tighter.

Last nights actions hurt more and more as the person subconsciously kept tightening his grip on my cuts until I let out a small whimper.

Instantly the fingers let go of my wrist and grabbed my backpack strap instead, the person still dragging me.

During the whole 5 minute walk I was being dragged and the person didn't talk at all until we made it to the nurses office, "Here" he mumbled. Me finally catching his eyes and realizing just who the person was.

Eden Hughes

I opened my mouth to thank him but before the words could leave my mouth his deep blue orbs flicked away from mine and he walked down the hall, towards the front entrance doors.

Didn't he have to go to class?

Even if he did he wouldn't go.

Sighing I pushed open the nurses door and was greeted by the lovely lady who saw me more than my mother did.

"Again Ms. Anton?" She sighed, giving me a sympathetic look.

Smiling sheepishly I nodded and made my way to the nurses bed.

It was lunch time now and I was sitting all alone as usual when Lennox and Alban decided that sitting next to me was a good idea.

"Can't be saved by the bell this time can you, s-stutter" Lennox taunted

My eyes flicked over to Eden who was looking at me and making his way to my table. I quickly averted my gaze and looked back at Lennox who was still talking.

No, but I can be saved by something else.

After what seemed like 3 years, everyone went silent and Eden finally found his way to my table, "Move" he growled.

Almost immediately I shot out of my seat and was about to leave when I felt a hand on my shoulder push me back down. I blushed and looked up at him to find him glaring at Lennox and Alban who had made no move to leave, instead Lennox was eying Eden as if he was a piece of meat.

Eden showing no acknowledgment to Lennox continued to glare at them before speaking.

"She stays" he says jerking his head in my direction, "and you two. leave. Now."

Huffing Lennox hesitantly got up making her way to her usual table with Alban trailing behind her like a lost puppy.

Eden sat across from me where Lennox previously sat and wasted no time in asking what he wanted.

"What's wrong with your wrist" his husky voice slightly lowering as his blue orbs narrowed on my wrist that was covered by my hoodie sleeve.

"W-what"

"Your wrist. When I grabbed it you whimpered; what's wrong with it"

My heart quickly speed up as well as my breathing before I muttered a quick "nothing"

"Bullshit." Was his response. "I will know though. Understand?"

Biting my lip and looking down I softly nodded.

His eyes flicked towards my lips before they quickly went to my face.

He abruptly stood up saying one thing before he left me stunned, "Don't bite your lip. It's tempting." With that he was through the cafeteria doors and out of sight.
