One's Scent

Once when we were running,
            from all that haunted us,
to the dark we were succumbing,
            to what hurt unbearably

Searching for the one thing,
  that would set our sad soul free

When we lose the things we love,
     the things we hate are blamed,
     at time the lines are blurred,
     and the two are just the same

In time we stumbled upon it,
       an inner calm and peace,
       and now we are beginning,
       to see and to believe,
       in who we are becoming,
       and all we've yet to be

But there is no turning back,
       we're stuck on this one —way love;
       where the waiting gives us mad—
          and hoping keeps us sane..

It seems an age ago, since we felt others,
    time has filled us, with words unsaid;
    as the sadness seeps into us slowly,
and we are left to face the night ahead.
