Acceptance

Betty's POV

When I got home from my run, and my less than enjoyable run in with Archie I went to shower. I can't stop hearing him say, 'I needed you.' Was I a bad friend? I mean I know we haven't been nearly as close, at the beginning of the year when he told me he didn't feel that way about me I was really hurt. I distanced myself so I could move on and while that was going on I found Jughead. Veronica and him ended up together, and with everything that goes on in our town... yes things have changed. That wasn't necessarily my fault? I guess he never said it was but it felt like that's what he was insuating. I just am not the same girl I was just five short months ago. I get out and brush my teeth and shake my hair out. I grab a blue sweater from my closet and some light jeans to go with. I find Veronicas necklace that she gave me and put it on. I throw my hair up in it's classic pony tail and look at the time. 12:00. I remembered me and Jug were going to get lunch at Pop's.

Me: Hey Jug I will head over to Pop's and meet you there

Jug: See you soon

I grab my jacket and throw on my converse. I walk out and the air feels less cold. There is snow on the ground but very light, and nothing a warm day won't easily melt away. I make my way to Pop's.

My feet stop once I see Veronica and Archie in the window. They are simply talking, and I knew they would be here today it must have just slipped my mind. Jug pulls up on his motor cycle and hops off. When he sees me he smiles. I run up to him and he pulls me in for a light kiss and a hug.

"Hi.." He says smiling at me.

"Hi.. you hungry?" I ask with sarcasm in my voice.

"Do you even have to ask?" He says and we laugh and walk in and Veronica spots us and a big smile grows across her face. She starts waving at me.

"B, Jug come join us!" Veronica says and I see Archie slowly turn around and his face looks blank. He quickly turns back to Veronica and she gives him a strange look.

"Come on Betty." Jug says taking my hand, I know immediately this is going to be uncomfortable. Figures I manage to see Archie more in the past week, when he specifically asked me for space. Veronica gets up and moves to sit by Archie and we slide into the booth.

"Our milkshakes are just coming, you guys getting lunch?" She asks and we both nod. She gives me a smile. "Sooo are you two back together?" She asks smiling. I feel my face get hot, my stomach hurts.

"Yeah we are." Jug says looking over at me wondering why I didn't answer.

"Usual for you two?" Pop says coming up to us as he drops off Veronica's and Archie's milkshakes.

"You know it Pop." Jug says. We sit there in awkward silence.

"So how are you two doing?" Jug asks, did he not know they weren't together? Jug doesn't really pick up on those things unless you flat out say it.

"We are good. Friends." Veronica says, seeming a little upset but weirdly okay at the same time. Archie just nods and smiles and keeps awkwardly looking everywhere but at us. I can tell he is looking for a way out.

"Arch is your mom coming down for New Years?" Jug asks him.

"She's planning on it." He says simply.

"Betty I see you are wearing my necklace I got you, I knew you would wear it all the time." Veronica says trying to keep the conversation going. Although neither Jug or Veronica know what has happened between me and Archie... Veronica has this weird intuition thing and I can tell she knows something is up. My stomach is full of knots.
