Betty and Archie

Archie's POV

I wake up to the sound of my alarm, and remember school starts today. I slowly get out of bed. I am dreading this day. I am going to have to see Betty and I don't think I will be able to handle it. At least Jughead doesn't go to Northside so I don't have to see them together all day long, but seeing her alone is going to be painful. How was I waking up yesterday so happy, and felt finally good for the first time in so long and now today back to square one? I get in the shower, brush my teeth, and find some clothes and throw them on. I run downstairs and grab a cup of coffee. My dad is busy reading the paper and my mom must be getting ready.

"What time is mom's flight again?" I ask.

"4, so you will see her right before she leaves after school." he says, I nod.

"Okay well see you later." I say pouring my cup in a thermos and throwing my jacket on and shoes and head out the door. I notice Betty walking up the hill. I would normally try and catch up with her, but even the sight of her perfect blonde pony tail moving back and fourth is making my heart ache. I walk slower to school than usual and make it just in time before 1st period. Which I don't have with Betty thank god. I walk into class right on time and Reggie is waving me over to sit next to him.

"Hey man how was your Christmas break?" He asks. I give him a look. "Right I mean besides catching a serial killer..." He says.

"It was fine Reg, how was yours?" I ask.

"It was good, good. Listen.." He says and whenever he starts off with that he wants something.

"What's up Reg?" I say already annoyed.

"I know you and V are no longer an item and I was wondering if I could maybe ask her out? If it's not cool with you I will stand down." He says seeming scared to hear my answer, sure I am a little surprised but why shouldn't he? Veronica deserves someone.

"I don't mind at all Reg, me and Veronica are in a really good place. We are friends." I say he nods.

"Wow well okay thanks bro." He says I nod and class begins.

Veronica is at my locker when I am getting ready for lunch.

"Fair warning we are all sitting together at lunch. I told Betty we would." She says.

"Ronnie I don't think I can-" Kevin comes up behind us and cuts me off.

"You guys did you hear?" He says and we both look at him confused.

"Hear what?" Veronica asks.

"Southside high is being shut down, all of the students are transferring here within the next few days." Veronica looks right at me. Of course it's getting shut down. How could my life get any worse?

"Wow." Veronica says.

"Yeah hopefully it will be bringing in some misunderstood hotties." Kevin says and Veronica laughs, but all I can think about is not only seeing Betty every day, but Betty with Jughead every day and it makes me want to crawl in a hole and never escape it. We finally get to the cafeteria and Betty is patiently waiting for us at our table. I can do this.

"Betty did you hear?" Kevin says as we sit down, Veronica keeps glancing over at me to see if I am okay.

"Hear what?" She asks.

"Southside high is shutting down and all of the students are transferring here within the next few days. I can't believe Jughead hasn't texted you." He says. Betty looks stunned, I can feel her eyes on me but I refuse to look.

"Wow, I didn't know that. I don't know why Jughead didn't tell me." She says sounding confused.

"Well in other news Reggie Mantle asked me out." Veronica says changing the subject, thank god. Kevin looks over to me I just give him a smile and he nods.
