Betty and Archie

Denial

Archie's POV

I woke up around 11, I can still smell Betty's scent on my pillow. It felt like a wonderful dream. "It meant something Arch.." Is all I keep hearing and I can't stop myself from smiling. I get up and hop in the shower. I get out brush my teeth and throw on some clothes. My mom is down stairs with my dad talking in the kitchen.

"Morning Archie." My mom says with a smile on her face.

"Morning Mom." I say back going to grab a cup of coffee.

"So how did you and Betty sleep last night?" My dad asks, I can feel my cheeks go red.

"Uh listen nothing happened, we just slept I swear." I say and they both laugh.

"Archie it's no big deal. It's Betty." My dad says.

"Uh okay cool." I say I start to go to the living room.

"Not so fast." My mom says, I turn around. I knew the conversation wasn't over. "What happened? Did you finally tell her how you feel?" My mom asks.

"No mom, it wasn't really like that. She came over because she had a nightmare and needed someone to talk too." I say she nods.

"Hmm okay." she says.

"Can we not do this? I'm going to go to my room." I say and they both shrug it off. I walk up to my room and see Betty grabbing her coat and walking out her door. I wonder where she is off too.

"Arch? Do you wanna take Vegas for a walk?" My dad yells up the stairs.

"Sure be down in a second!" I yell back and finish my coffee and grab my jacket and run downstairs.

"Vegas come here boy!" I yell and he comes wobbling over, I throw on his leash and we head out the door. The snow has melted quite a bit. It's still cold out but bearable. We make our way over the hill, Vegas get's tired quickly so this won't be much of a walk.

"Hey Archie!" I hear and I turn around and it's Jug. He's running up to me.

"Hey Jug.." I say. I'm surprised he even want's to talk to me after last night.

"I just wanted to say I'm sorry for how I acted last night. When I found out it just threw me is all." He says, I nod.

"No I get it and Jug I'm really sorry." I say he nods.

"I know." He says.

"What are you doing over here anyways?" I ask.

"Well I just left Betty's awhile ago, I apologized to her too." I nod. "We decided we still want to work on things, we did just get back together and I don't hold the kiss against her I mean it was a one time thing." He says, my heart starts sinking slowly.

"That's great then, that you guys are still together." I say.

"Yeah it is. I really need her in my life." He says, I nod. I am such a horrible friend, less than 24 hours ago, Betty was in my arms.

"Well I better get back to the house Vegas can only last so long." I say and Jug laughs.

"Yeah well see ya later Archie." He says, I nod and walk home feeling just as I did yesterday before all of this came to light. Alone.

I walk inside and my Mom is sitting on the couch reading.

"Where's dad?" I say letting go of Vegas's leash.

"He went to Pop's to pick up some lunch." She says I nod. "Hey are you okay?" She asks.

"Fine." I say trying to avoid what I know she is going to force out of me. I try to get upstairs but she follows me.
