Waiting

We hide in the brush of the forest, waiting for our newfound friend to come out of the door. We waited and waited for what felt like forever, but Trevor was no where in sight. Dread crept down my spine at the thoughts that kept trying to penetrate my mind. Suddenly 4 guards ran out of the door, 2 of them moved to the sides of the door to guard it, while the other 2 ran out into the woods not far from where we were hiding. It was hard to tell if they were looking for accomplices or not though. Aaron lowered his head and I followed. We kept an eye on the door though, but at this point I already knew Trevor wasnt going out that door, or any for that matter. I'm pretty sure Aaron knew too, but we both refused to move. I knew I would wait until he came out, even if he never did. I wasnt sure if Aaron was planning on doing the same. We both watch the door in silence, not daring to speak the words we both knew to be true. He finally turned to me.
"We have to go." Aaron said in a hushed, sad voice. I look at him, I look into his dark eyes. I could see the sadness in them.
"We can't..Trevor-" I stopped and looked at the chocolate brown dirt beneath us.
"I know..I feel bad for not trusting him before..but if we dont go we could end up in the same spot he is in. We dont want his sacrifice to be in vain. I'm sure Nev and Kathy would agree." He set his hand on my shoulder. I paused, considering. I nodded in agreement, but grudgingly. He summoned his Tabe and hugged me. He knew he didnt need to hug me, he just needed to touch me, hold my hand or shoulder like he was before. But he knew I wanted to be hugged, needed to be hugged. The beautiful blue of his Tabe enveloped us and I felt the weight of my body lift. I bury my face in his chest, even as I feel my feet touch the soft grass of the hill. We both stood there, motionless, for at least 5 minutes. Finally he picked me up and cradled me in his arms. I had yet to unbury my face. He sat down on the hill with me in his arms.
"We need to go home." He whispered kindly. "Before someone realizes we are gone." I sit for a moment longer, and then nod. I get up and he reluctantly lets go of me. He stands up with me and we begin to walk out from the forest and out to our homes. I realize now that we will not have our friends to confide in and talk to about daily issues we run into with our secret relationships, school will be much different, we still have other friends we talk and hangout with. But not nearly as much as Neveah and Kathy. I sigh sadly.
"Today has been a bad day." I look at Aaron, soon our paths would split, but I wanted to talk to him while he was still in person with me.
"Yes, but tomorrow we will make up for this." He smiled, and although there was still sadness in his eyes, I could also see a plan brewing in them.
"Are you implying what I think you are implying?" I squinted my eyes and him and smiled.
"Depends, what do you think I'm implying?" We laughed and I looked at him with all the love I could convey with just a look. He repeated the action, our eyes locked. I felt warm and happy. This day was a sad day, but it will not go uncherished. As long as we are within these walls we are in danger, so each day counts.
"Movies then? After school?" I smile warmly at him. His eyes brightened even more.
"Oh definitely! But not just that, I have a surprise for you!" He winked at me, then ran. He glanced back and I could see redness in his cheeks. I smiled, but then it hit me, my delayed reaction finally caught up to me. Surprise? My heart fluttered at the possibilities. I opened my Tabe and tapped my home. The weight of my body lifted once again, and I saw as the midnight purple pixels engulfed me. I looked out about the colorful pillars around me as people transported in and out of this pocket dimension that paralleled our own. The midnight pixels resurrounded my body and I felt the weight of my body return as my feet gently placed on the ground in front of my door. I sigh and slowly open the door.
"Took you long enough. Next time you better come back before so late at night you useless brat." My mother cursed at me.
"Mom? What...why are you here? I'm s-sorry I'm late.." I look down and close the door behind me.
"I am crashing here for a few days." She glared at me. She had once gone to prison for abusing me. My aunt didn't want her near me after that. I'm assuming my aunt, Kristi, doesnt know shes here.
"Does Kristi know?" I asked, already knowing her answer. She laughed, "my useless no good sister? Hell no. She will let me stay whether she likes it or not. I have a legal right to visit you. She can't argue with the rules." She smirked, she cursed nearly every other word..I hated it. I hated her. I wanted to tell her to get out, but no matter what I told myself, I just couldn't. I was too scared.
"Where i-is Chiara?" I asked, stepping forward, farther into the house. The door led straight to the family room, and on the left led the kitchen, and across the family room was a hallway leading down to the bedrooms. The kitchen also had an enterance to the bedrooms. I inched closer to the kitchen door.
"Pig? I dont know. She ran off when she saw me here." She snickered, no remorse.
I ground my teeth, "her name isn't pig. We changed her name years ago. You know that." I growled, her face changed to amusement.
"Pig fits her better, plus its what I named her. Don't I get the right to name her if I was the one to carry and birth her?" She raised an eyebrow at me, but returned her gaze to the home Tabe, flipping through the broadcasting channels with uninterest.
"Are you serious??!?!? What psychopath names their beautiful baby girl Pig?! What kind of cruel human are you..?" I started angry, but slowly descended to sadness and disappointment.
"What happened to you..?" I said sadly, "I remember..I remember you when you were kind, beautiful..." I looked at the ground again.
"I learned something...I learned the truth!! You wouldn't understand! There's..so much you dont know..will never know." She sighed, turning off the home Tabe.
"Wha-what?" I asked, confused. She patted the seat next to her. I hesitated, but one look at her face calmed me, she looked..like she did before.
"I have alot to tell you..but its dangerous..okay? You could be killed..or your life could be destroyed." She put her hand on my shoulder. I chuckled a bit.
"I dont think it could be as dangerous as the day I've had." I said, she raised her eyebrow at me.
I smiled, "Depending on what you say..I might tell you a little bit about myself as well."
