Little sister

I stepped out of the car, and took in a deep breath. The soft smell of plant life surrounded me. I looked over to Morana, my little sister who climbed out of the car on the other side. She had recently turned twelve years old, she was only two years younger then me. She smiled at me, she loved camping, and it had been a while since we had gone camping.
"I missed this! Its beautiful." She twirled with her hands reaching up. Her eyes were as blue as the sky she had reached for. She has always had a dream to someday fly. But everyone knew that any type of flying contraption was forbidden. She stopped twirling and stared up.
"You know they will send you away if you even try to make anything that flies." I say, apologetically.
"I know. Its not your fault though. If I ever do though..please come with me." She asked pleadingly.
"If you can get away with it, sure, I dont see why not. But you better not get me arrested in the process." We both laughed.
"And if I ever get out of the walls and find the ocean, help me build a boat and come sail away with me!" I exclaim. We both silently stare at eachother for a moment. Then we both burst out laughing at our impossible dreams.
"Hey dreamers, its going to take a little while to set up this tent, go ahead and explore a bit. But dont get lost and be careful not to get hurt." Mom called out to us as she got out the supplies for the tent.
"Yay! Bye mom!" Morana already ran out into the forest, I ran after her and quickly caught up. We silently walked down a premade path, following signs. Suddenly Morana stopped and croached down.
"What is it?" I asked her.
"Its a path..not one made by the AMBER." She said quietly. She turned her head slowly and smiled at me.
"No." I say sternly. She continues to silently stare at me, her eyes hungry for adventure.
"No. Mom said not to get lost or hurt." I say, my resolve crumbling as her eyes get fiercer.
"Mom said..." I found myself getting curious of the path as well.
"Fine." I say stubbornly.
"I knew you'd come around" she said cheerfully as she trotted down the narrow pathway. I followed close behind, but before I knew it we were in a clearing on a cliffside. It overlooked a large rivine. It was nice and tranquil, it seemed not many went over here, seeing as there were no AMBER paths to it.
"Its amazing. Do you mind if I dance? It would be so fun to practice here." Morana exclaimed happily as she pulled out her Tabe. We had more possible dreams we really wanted as well as the impossible ones. Her's was to be a dancer. Mine was to make music, and we thought it would be fun to work together, I make music for her to dance to.
"Only if you use my music." I said happily.
"What other music would I use?" She giggled and started the music, she swept her tabe away and began to dance.
The way she twirled and the intricate moves she made was beyond anything I could ever do. Every little move she makes has purpose and flows smoothly to the next movement. I could never dance like she does. Even at 12 years old she has already created buzz in the walls. News of her dancing spread like wildfire. No wonder, it was only a matter of time until she was recognised for her talent. What she did with her dancing nobody else could ever do. It has made me worry in some ways, knowing that if her competition got jealous and was blinded she could get hurt. Mom said I watched too many movies if I ever think her competitors would be stupid enough to commit such a crime as to harm someone else. Somehow, I could never understand how, but even if she never heard a song before she could flow with the notes as if she were one with the song. I wished to know her secret, but she probably won't tell me. She likes keeping secrets from me, she finds it funny how much I ask her to tell me. For a long time dance was a lost art, nobody could figure out how to rekindle the same dancing we used to hear in stories of before the walls were up. But nobody could really get back what we lost. I think my sister has though. I think my sister has found the lost art of dance. I've heard mom say she might've even surpassed the dancing from the old stories. Her eyes closed as she let her body become the music she had flowing into her ears. I sat down on the grass, watching her. Thinking of our dreams and the strong possibility we could make them come true together. Suddenly she gasped, snapping me back to reality. Her movement disconnected from the music and she stumbled. I shot to my feet and ran to her. Before my eyes I could see her lose balance and tip over the edge of the cliff. I grasp her wrist, my torso bent over the edge and my feet digging into the ground to keep me anchored.
"Jay! Im scared!" Tears glistened in her eyes.
"Its fine I got you!" I say reassuringly, but I could feel my body slipping towards the edge as my feet fail to anchor me in place.
"You're lying. Your going to fall if you try to pull me up. You will fall with me if you dont let go." She cried conflict reflected off her eyes.
"I wont let go. I dont care if I die. I cant live without you. I..what about your dream? Once I pull you up we can try to build the flying machine..we could use it to get over the wall and find the ocean! Then we can build a boat!" I sobbed, tears falling into the rivine.
"Y-yeah. I will fly and I will dance....a-and You will sail and you will be heard by everyone!" She sniffed, her eyes now certain, if what, I wasnt sure.
"Yeah we will achieve our dreams together!" I said happily, tears still streaming down my face.
"No." She said, and I could see that whatever she had decided, I could not convince her otherwise.
"You will achieve our dreams." Her tears held a steady stream down her face, I shook my head.
"I'm not letting go!" I yelled.
"I'm sorry. But please promise you will fly. Promise you will sail and make music and make people listen to you. I know you have more to say then you like to admit. Your so quiet but I can see the gears in your head and they are always turning. So make aure they hear you. Never be quiet. Make them listen! And.." She rushed out her words as I slipped closer to the edge.
"Say hi to the sky for me..and say hi to the ocean too." She the proceeded to bite my hand, but I refuses to let the pain make me release her. She bit harder and I felt the muscles in my hand loosen their hold.
"No!" I screamed. She released her bite.
"Promise me." She cried.
"No! Please..I..." I yelled and sobbed.
"PROMISE ME!!" She screamed and bit down on my hand again, causing me to release her.
"I promise!" I screamed as she fell to her death.
"Thank you." She yelled back as her falling form disapeared from sight. It had gotten to far away. I cried, pushing myself away from the edge. I curled into a ball and cried, unable to move or do anything at all. My body felt frozen, my mind felt broken.
She is gone. Morana is gone.
