I pant as I jump up, throwing my hand in the way of the ball. My heart pounding loudly, as my brother and Ben block me. I make eye contact with James, and I bounce the ball between Ben's long legs, to James. He grabs the ball, begins dribbling down the street, and shooting the ball into the hoop."Yes! Good job!" He smiles as we high five each other, his hands intertwining with mine. My cheeks go red now.
"Yo, isn't that Taeyong?" Joshua heaves as he bounces the ball to me. I look over my shoulder. His eyes scan my body. I couldn't blame him. I was wearing tight leggings, and a black, Calvin Klein sports bra. I only took my shirt off cause it got hot as hell. "Yeah." I shrug, tying my hair up.
"Taeyong? Who's he?" James furrows his eyebrows, as Jermey, Zach, and Kam pull up in front of Jermey's house. "Ayo mama! Lookin good!" Kam teases, getting on the car. "I know." I smirk. "Damn girly," Zach now comments.
"That's mah girl." Jermey and I clap hands. Jermey's little brother, Jeffery, walks out the house, a juul in his mouth. "Get that shit out of your mouth Jeffery Henry," I growl. His face goes pale. "I didn't know you were out here," he takes the juul out his mouth, and shoved it into his pocket. "Hand it over kid, you're only sixteen." I hold my hand out. "C'mon, Nolan, you took like 5 of my last ones." He groans.
"Now." I demand. He whines, handing the usb looking vape, over. "Thank you." I drop it onto the floor, and step on it. "Nolan," he whines.
"Hey, don't you dare talk to her like that, you aren't a baby." Jermey warned his brother. "You guys are lame." He sigh, walking off. I kick away the pieces of the juul, off the court.
"Nyx?" I heard a quiet voice. I turn around to see Taeyong. "Can we hang?" He frowns. "I'm busy." I scoff. "Go hang out with him," Joshua warns me. I grab my shirt from the floor, and begin cleaning the sweat off my body, as I start walking, Taeyong following. "What's up?" I let out a deep breath. "We don't really talk anymore. I just wanted to make sure everything between us is good," He smiles.
"Well, it's not."
"What? What do you mean? What can I do to fix it?"
"Minyoung. It's all her. She's the reason I don't like talking to you anymore. I asked you to hang out with me last week, like everyday, but you didn't want to, because you and that bitch had plans. You two only had plans because she doesn't like me, and she made sure to make plans with you so that you can't hang with me. I didn't wanna hang out with you when you asked cause I was your second choice. I am not a fucking second choice, Taeyong. You don't have to pick between me and her. You don't have to break up with her. You two seem great together. All I'm asking is that, you give me some space for a little. I think I just need to be away from you, Minyoung, and your friends."
"No, Willow. I really enjoy talking to you-."
"And I really enjoy your company, but it's funny we don't appreciate what we have, until it's gone, right, Taeyong?"
I smile sadly at him now.
I turn on my heel, and start walking back to my brother and my friends.
"Right."
My friends. Not his. That feels great to say. James, Jermey, Zach, Kam, Benjamin, are my friends.
