Yejin Oh sat in her room, scrolling her Instagram account on her phone. She sighed. There wasn't anything to do, and there wasn't anything popping up on her feed. Dejectedly, she turned off her phone and moves her hand over to pet her dog, Bella, the miniature Schnauzer.
Bella perked her head up at the sudden movement, but when she realized that nothing important happened, she went back to napping.
Yejin picked up her phone and checked the time. 6:30 PM it read. Sighing once more, Yejin stands up and heads out of her room and down the stairs, a lazy Bella trailing sleepily behind her.
I better start making dinner...although I'm probably going to be home alone again... Yejin thought to herself as she started to fill the rice cooker with rice.
"I might as well heat up last night's steak..." she muttered to herself as she washed the rice. After washing the rice, she put it in the cooker and set the timer. Yejin then proceeded to sit down in the dining room to scroll her phone once again.
Half an hour later, Yejin stood up and heated up the leftover steak in the microwave, along with some pieces of broccoli and carrot. Once that was heated up, she dumped it all on a plate, along with the rice.
"Voila, a $15 meal..." Yejin sighed and walked back to the dining room. Bella trailing right behind her, whining. Yejin sighed and turned to face her dog.
"I forgot to feed you didn't I..." she asked the dog, expecting the dog to reply. Sighing for the nth time, she filled Bella's bowl with her food. Sitting down with a thump on the chair, she breathed in the aromas of her meal.
"Finally...." she muttered, before digging in.
A few minutes later, she heard a faint click from behind her. A door opened.
"Hey Dad. Hey Mom. How was work?" Yejin called from the kitchen.
"Tiring as per usual. How was your uneventful day?" her dad called back.
"You literally just described my day... Uneventful." Yejin laughed, as both her parents came into the kitchen, looking weary.
"What did you make for dinner?" her mom asked.
"Just some leftovers." Yejin replied.
"Did you heat some up for us?"
"I figured you would be working late again, so no."
"Fair enough... I'll just make some ramyun then..." her mother sighed.

Yejin lay on her bed, bored out of her mind, Bella on her stomach. If only she could see the outside world. Not through a screen of glass, but with her own eyes.
If only she could experience all the experiences of a normal girl...
