Luka Kayser chucked her suitcase in the limo as she glanced back at the rundown apartment that she used to live in. She chuckled. The chipped paint walls plus the graffiti covered concrete was definitely not something that she would miss, but she had lived in that cramped place for her entire life. Now, she was forced into some luxury place in an academy for gifted students.
She looked at the man that was dressed in a crisp suit with black gloves, and could have sworn that he rolled his eyes under those dark tinted glasses. He informed her all about the academy which she was forced against her will to attend, and she had the sudden overwhelming urge to snatch the gun from his side and shoot his arm so she could make a run for it.
It was slightly hinted, but he did say something about curfew, and big consequences. She hated that. Usually, in the middle of the night, she would go out of her apartment and do random things, like walking down the streets, especially when she had nightmares. Not being able to do that made her sweat bullets.
He opened the sleek black car door and nodded for her to go in. She glared at him for a minute, but her shoulders slumped once her feet began walking to the door. He closed the door once she got in, and went to the driver’s seat, and locked the open door button so she couldn’t escape. She propped her head on her arm and gave once last glance at the shady neighborhood that she loved as they drove away.

Luka mentally groaned when she saw the place. It was very modern, expensive, and filled with security guards and cameras. The green grass was lush and healthy, but what Luka saw were the buff security guards stepping on it.
The man opened the door and let her step out. Luka suddenly felt very out of place. Everyone here looked like they belonged to rich families. She got out her suitcase and quickly wheeled all the way to the front, ignoring the man’s confused look behind her.
He quickly ran behind her and took her suitcase. “I’m supposed to carry it.” he said, gruffly. Luka looked at him dumbfound.
“I’m not crippled.” she said, like she was talking to a small child. The man rolled his eyes (she thinks) and took her suitcase, passing many security guards while he showed them an I.D, and explained about her while they looked at a list.
They reached the nearly deserted huge front lobby where the man talked to the lady at the front office. He reached out and took something from her hands and walked back to Luka, who was staring at the paintings in awe.
He showed her two things. One was an earpiece, another was like a necklace, and the last one was like a watch.
“Which one?” he asked. She looked at him incredulously.
“Does it matter?” she asked. He didn’t say anything, but sighed. She rolled her eyes and grabbed the watch-like one.
“These are kind of like cell-phones, but they keep track of all the things you need at this school. She blinked, and pressed the silver button on the watch. Pictures filled the space in front of her. She blinked.
“Is this some kind of futuristic phone?” she asked, bluntly. He ignored her stupid question and started explaining what to do with it.
“You can also call me for anything you need.” he said, and then handed her a tag with her room number.
“Fourth floor on the Dragon dorm which is to your right once you see the blue flag.” he informed her. He started to walk away, as she exited the front office, trying to find the dorms.
She reached the building with the blue flag on it, and opened the door, when she heard shouting.
A boy about her age was holding a phone and a cup of coffee, talking to the phone it angrily. Even though she didn’t want to admit it, he was very attractive with chocolate brown hair, full lips, emerald green eyes, and a model-like body.
The place around them was deserted, with an elevator in the front. She quickly ran over to the elevator and quickly pressed the button, when the boy ran up to the elevator just as it was about to close.
The elevator opened up quickly, as he stepped in. He muttered something angrily under his breath, unaware that the coffee he was holding was slipping from his hand. It spilled on the elevator’s white glossy floors and on Luka’s clothes.
“Ow!” Luka yelped as the scorching hot coffee hit her leg and her stomach. Her clothes were drenched with hot black coffee, and her skin stung.
“Shit! Sorry.” the boy cursed, running his hand through his hair, unaware of what to do. The elevator door opened as a boy with blonde hair walked by, a wide grin spreading his face when he saw the boy.
“Landon!” the boy yelled hugging him. He broke apart and looked at Luka, and then glanced at the coffee cup on the floor.
“You didn’t do that, did you?” the boy asked Landon, slowly. Landon glared at him.
“Are you okay?” the boy asked Luka. She blinked.
“Uh, yeah. I’m not dying or anything.” she blurted, even though it stung badly. The boy glanced at her hand, which was red.
“Are you sure? Because he spilled coffee on me tons of times and it still hurts like hell.” he said, cautiously. Luka nodded weakly, stepping out of the elevator.
“I have tough skin. Its fine.” she said, starting to walk away, when Landon grabbed her hand.
“Ow!” she winced. Landon quickly with drawled his hand.
“Come on, the nurse is just on the second floor.” he coaxed. She hesitated, but complied, stepping back on the elevator as they pressed the button to the second floor, with the boy next to Landon chattering a mile a minute.
