A MERMAID'S LOVE STORY

Chapter 8

The sound of an old dusty car signal the arrival of Asher's uncle. A man probably in his sixties comes out of the car. The car looks like it needs some cleaning. Asher comes out of the mansion and hugs his uncle. He really miss him. "Baby boy, I know you like me but you are going to kill me with that your hug I can't breathe" the man tells him. He knows he his joking."I have miss you uncle David. It been two years you visit" Asher tells him as they go inside the mansion.
"Sorry boy travelling around makes you forget you have family" David tells him smiling.
Uncle David looks around the house. He notices the foodstuffs in the kitchen and the two used plate in the sink. "You cook?" Asher smiles warily at him. "Yeah, I mean..I mean..I am practising"he shutters. David smiles at him "I am tired. I will go in and freshening up and rest" David tells him. Asher nods.
Looking at a worrying Aria who doesn't know how David will reacts if he finds out. "Aria calm down. I will make sure my uncle don't come here"Asher tries to reassure her." But I am scare what if he finds me and call the press or kill me?" Aria asks not feeling safe anymore. Asher hates the fact that she talks about death so easily. If anybody tries to hurt her they will have to kill him first. "Aria, you need to understand that I will protect you with everything I have even my life"he tells her. She smiles at him. She is lucky to have him.
"I need to go now before he starts searching for me" he says and kiss her forehead. Aria is surprise he did that and she smile shyly. Maybe, just maybe their is hope for them.

Night time is the only time she is free to swim. Asher told her his uncle is a heavy sleeper. He even said the man won't wake up if the house is burning. As she enjoins the night breeze, she hears the sound of footsteps that doesn't sound like Asher's. She immediately dives into the pool.
David stays near the pool circling it. She tries to hold her breath. "Show yourself. I can feel your presence mermaid"David says looking around.
"Shit, Asher our secret is not really safe anymore you should prepare for my execution"she thinks as she swims to the surface. David looks closely at her not even afraid of her."What is your name and what are you doing here?" David asks her. She looks at him closely. This is strange she feels calm and safe in his presence. Who is he?
Asher is sleeping peacefully in his room having an exotic dream about Aria. He smiles in his dream. Unknown to him that his secret is no more a secret.
