Code 1 - The Start of the End

"This is a very important mission. Failure or mistakes will not be accepted, considering that you are one of our best," she didn't need to be reminded of this.

"Understood."

"The subject must be captured under any circumstances; the prosperity of our corporation is at stake."

"Yes Sir."

"If you were to fail us... well, we'll just leave it at that. We'll get you into enemy ranks, but we'll leave everything to you and we will trust your judgments."

"Thank you sir, Juvia will do her best." The gigantic doors opened as a sign for her to leave, the mission debriefing was over, and this was the start of the end.

The corridor was surprisingly bright compared to the room she had just left, yet large shadows still clung to the walls. The cold draft that continuously blew through the hallway stung her cheeks, causing them to redden; though her body reacted; her mind was not fazed. Nothing could faze the rain woman.

"There is no point in hiding if Juvia already knows that you are there," She spoke into the shadows. Three figures detected themselves from the darkness; the eerie dim blue light that lit the halls gave them an almost unearthly appearance.

"Ve vould expect nothing less from you, mademoiselle," a French man, with green hair praised.

"What was that about?" asked a man with a black band tattooed on his face.

"This mission was given to Juvia and Juvia alone, you do not have the authority to question the master's decisions," she replied sharply.

"It's so sad that you can't trust us, we're all friends here," a large man commented.

"Friends? Humph, what need has Juvia of friends? There is no room for them in our line of work." She retorted bitterly. No reply came to that, because they knew that she was right; that they really had no need of them, they couldn't afford to keep them. And deep down, they knew that they didn't deserve them.

This job was nothing. The dark haired man thought. There was no need for me to partner up with that Tabsca freak! I could have handled it by myself easily! And we could've actually received money instead of using it to pay for the damage.

As the he walked down the calm streets of Magnolia, towards the Fairy Tail Base, a bluenette dashed past him, crying in hysterics.

"Hey! What's the matter with you?!" He shouted at her but she kept on running, growing smaller and smaller into the distance. Since she didn't stop or pay him any mind, he just continued on his way. Some sort of girly thing. Bad break up maybe, I don't know. Best not get involved. He shrugged it off and made his way to FTB. Still, there must be something wrong.

"Hey, Gray what happened to your clothes?"

"Holy shit! Cana where did you come from!" He looked down "Why does this always happen to me?!" he exclaimed. "God! You have no idea how many new clothes I have to buy because of this!?" he sighed "Damn it Ur, you started this!" he whispered towards the sky with a sad smile.

"I swear, Gray you get weirder every time I see you," Cana said while taking a swig of her beer.

"By the way, why are you here? Aren't you're supposed be on a mission on the other side of town. And what's with that bottle of beer, who knows what Gramps will do if he finds you drinking on the job," he shuddered at the thought.

"Ugh, I'm already used to it by now and you should be more relaxed," suddenly she remembered why she was there. "Oh yeah a message from the old man: If you don't get your arse back to base right now, you will be in deep shit... or so I quote."

"I was just on my way back anyway. Oh, did you see that bluenette earlier?"

"Nah, I was in there," and with her thumb she gestured to the door behind her, the sign above it said 'The Card Deck'

"Your own bar...?"

"Of course, free alcohol."

"It's not free..."

"It's free... got it?" Gray sighed and continued on his way, leaving Cana to her own demise.

The rest of the journey was pretty normal, at least for him. A couple of people stared at him as he passed by, but he was used to it by now.

The Fairy Tail Association base is an ordinary looking building to outsiders, but what they don't know is that underneath it was a whole secret multi-storey basement where its members worked endlessly to keep peace in Fiore. Slick computers processing data at top speed; highly trained engineers and technicians creating more gadgets that are customised for each individual agent. Most of the members however are human intelligence specially trained in a certain field.

The spiky haired man, who was walking to towards the building, sighed as he thought of the endless things that he could be called in for. It could be from as small as cleaning the freezer to busting up a drug trade circle. As he reached the Master's office he knew it was time to face the music.

Inside the office, Master Makarov was sat at the big desk at the back of the room. But what caught his eye was a particular bluenette that he met in the streets, sitting on the leather sofa.

"Ah! Gray, you're finally here, what took you so long?" inquired the short, white haired master.

"I got arrested"

"..."

"For stripping..."

"... Again?"

"Yeah."

"Back to the subject at hand, this young lady was unconscious when Natsu and Lucy found her" Makarov gestured to the one in question.

"Waiwaiwait...What?! Unconscious?!" My bad, wasn't girly at all, apparently...

"Yes Gray, unconscious and injured. Also I think she may be suffering from a case of amnesia, but I would like you to be one of the people who keeps an eye over her while she recovers and her whole issue blows over."

"Sure," I guess it's the most I can do for her. "I don't see a problem with that"

"Good, Thank you Gray" Makarov replied. Gray walked over to the door and noticed that the girl was still sitting on the sofa.

"Are you coming?"

"Yes, Juvia is coming"
