No, only in my dreams
As real as it may seem
It was only in my dreams

Some Yet to Be Determined Date in the Future

Grayson woke with a start, sitting up abruptly in bed. He looked around. The first strains of daylight were poking through the blinds. But he wasn't in a hotel suite. He was in his bedroom at home.

He reached his hand to rub across his eyes and saw the platinum wedding ring on his finger.  He looked around at his surroundings again, as awareness caught up with him.

He'd gotten home from a road trip in the early hours of the morning.  His wife had been asleep, but he'd been hungry and he'd gotten a snack before heading to bed.

Now he turned to the other side of the bed and saw her hair spread out on the pillow.  Saw her beautiful face at peace as she slept.

He shouldn't bother her.  She'd been so tired lately.  But he couldn't resist wrapping an arm around her, his large hand going immediately to the slight bump in her abdomen that held his child.

"Mhmm," Cait's sleepy murmur reached his ears.  "Welcome home."

"Glad to be home," he whispered.  "But I had the most awful dream.  Last time I eat leftover Mexican food before bed."

"You ate my burrito?"  she rolled toward him with a frown.  "That was for the baby."

"I'll get you a new one." He kissed her nose.

"What was it about?" she mumbled. "Your dream?"

"I didn't go after you when you went to Ireland. And it was awful." Grayson shuddered a bit. "We were broken up for like a year. And I was miserable. I dated Vanessa Chambers."

"You dated the annoying swimsuit model that Justise dumped?" Cait opened her eyes and shot him a glare now.

"It was a dream." He rolled his eyes at her. "You can't get mad."

"Bet me," she frowned again. "I'm pregnant and hormonal. I can get mad if I feel like it."

"Sorry, I forgot that pregnancy gives you license to be unreasonable," he smirked. "Anyhow, Rae got pregnant in my dream and she and Luke got married and at the wedding you and I had an argument, y'know, the way we like to argue," he grinned. "And you got pregnant and I dumped Vanessa and I begged you to take me back and we lived happily ever after."

"You've got pregnancy on the brain." She smirked a bit now.

"Maybe because you're finally actually pregnant and it consumes my thoughts," Grayson chuckled.

"But in your dream, you just wanted me for the baby." She was frowning again.

"No," Grayson told her. "I was very, very clear about wanting you because I love you. That I was a disaster without you and I needed you. I begged."

"You begged?" She smirked now.

"I absolutely did.  On both knees," Grayson kissed her now. "And you said yes."
