CHAPTER TEN;MERMINS!

I could hear a wide range of voices as I woke from unconscious state.  There was definitely singing followed by humming them muttering and finally giggling but all these had one thing in common, it was girls’ voices. I lazily opened my eyes only to see a hand softly caressing my chest. My eyes widened in shock. The sight I first registered was four girls seated around me, my head was on one’s thigh, my legs on another and the remaining ones were at my sides. Who the hell are these girls? What are such beautiful girls doing in the middle of the forest and why can’t I move? Such and many other thoughts ran through my mind. 

“Who are you people? Where am I? What did you do to me?” I asked sluggishly as my mouth could hardly move properly but they just giggled, “why can’t I move?” Their answers were more giggles. As much as I wanted to enjoy the moment,   after all it is not every day you wake up surrounded by four beautiful girls, I knew something was very wrong. I was never this lucky. 

“Ladies as much as this seems fun, I have somewhere to be, urgently! So can you please undo what you did to me so I can be on my way,” I tried to negotiate but as expected they just giggled. What the hell was wrong with these girls? Are they deaf? Why the heck am I shirtless and lying close to a river bank?

“Don’t be impatient dear, everything will be fine. We will help you find your friend,” the one holding my hands finally uttered. That tone didn’t sound good to me. 

“As much as I would love that, it is better if I go on my own,” and gave them a smile, maybe if I played nice they would let me go.

“Isn’t he so handsome sisters?” one of them said and the others agreed with more giggling and it was starting to get annoying. The one on which my head lay, gently stroked my hair as the one on my side ran her hands over my chest. What is really happening here? I didn’t like any of it at all! Then suddenly the one at my feet started crawling up to me on her fours, she now stared deep into my eyes, 

“What are you doing!?” I inquired my heart pounding in my chest, I could feel her breathe on my face. She gently kissed my neck,"Get off me right now!" I blurted but then my cheeks and finally our lips locked. How do I get out of this if I can’t move my muscles? I wasn’t kissing her back but she just kept on forcing it,all I could do was mumble. Couple of minutes later she pulled back and went back to my feet, 

“Such innocence!” was all she said. 

“Ladies why don’t we make him feel at home, its time!” said one of the ladies on my side.

“Time? Time for what?” I inquired panicked,  but they all just smiled at me, wicked smiles I observed. My mind knew this wasn’t going to end well for me. Abruptly they lifted me up, all four of them and started dragging me towards the river, 

“Ladies what is happening!? Where are you taking me!?” I tried to move once more but it was not happening.

“Supper is happening!” one of them said with finality. Supper? Oh shit! That means they are going to….. I have to get out of this but how? Does everything in this forest want to feed on me? Why can’t I just run into some nice people for once? I lamented silently desperately wishing for a way out. 

“Ladies can we talk about this? I am not even that tasty you know?”

“Don’t worry we will make it quick, you won’t feel a thing!” and all over sudden they tossedy numb body like I was some sought of gabbage, into the river, they kept pulling me in and in. I was drowning! It was difficult breathing as I choked on the water which was filling my chest. They kept pulling me deeper and deeper but suddenly stopped, my body kept on sinking, I was never a swimmer. Abruptly before my eyes I saw a blue flash of light and that is when my worst nightmare was confirmed. The four beautiful maidens turned into what seemed like  white skinned creatures with red hair, blue glowing eyes, razor sharp teeth and the from other half of their body was a fish’s body with tail fins. What were these things!? My eyes were literally dropping out of their sockets,I gritted my teeth in horror, couldn't die and so  I struggled to  swim or try anyway.Unfortunately I wasn't making any progress nor was I going anywhere. They stayed still as I continued drifting out of consciousness and suddenly started swimming towards me at a very high speed. My hear was beating weakly as I realized  this was it. I shut my eyes and winced and that is when I felt something burning my chest, it hurt so bad! It was followed by a loud bang and then deafening silence. Something felt wrong,  well the whole scenario of me being eaten to death was wrong but you know what I mean. I slowly opened my eyes in time to see the scattered pieces of creatures all over the water and with blood everywhere. My body was now at the bottom. Well at least my death was not coming from being eaten alive. However drowning to death was not a better option.  Just as I had lost all hope I heard a loud splash and a couple of minutes later felt something dragging my body. I could not remember what happened next but the next thing I knew was someone kissing me over and over again.I gasped awake spurting out the gallons of water from my chest. I coughed over and over until I thought my chest would burst. My eyes hurt and all I saw was a blurry figure kneeling besides my body. I rubbed my eyes  and finally she came into focus.  She was beautiful with deep icy blue eyes, her hair was all wet, she just smiled at me. I was about to smile back when I remembered what put me in this situation in the fist place. My guard was put in place, after all she might be one of them! Hurriedly I stumbled to my feet and took few steps back. At least the near drowning brought back life to my limbs.  I glared at her but she just smiled and what an exquisite smile she had.
