We stood facing each other, breathing heavily, drops of sweat running down our faces and each with their swords in hand.

“Today is the day I beat you old man!” I murmured glaring at him.

“Still cocky I see. You have been warned,” he replied smiling wickedly. I couldn’t believe I really came back and even stayed, well partly because of Melissa and partly because of Benid. I remembered him approaching me the same night and apologizing for everything though his decision to keep me in the dark still stood firm. Afterwards things between him and Melissa got better, they started speaking again and even spending some time together when Benid was not busy kicking my ass like always. I could feel things going back to as they were since that night three weeks ago and the good thing was that I was getting closer and closer to completing my training. All that remained was me mastering the sword. In my preoccupation I failed to notice Benid make his first move. A sudden kick landed on my chest thrusting me into the hard ground. I hastily tried to get to my feet.

“Don’t get distracted kiddo!” he shouted taking steps back allowing me space to regain my composure. I stood up, more alert this time.

“Sorry old man, just thinking!” I answered adjusting my grip on the sword.

“Think later, focus now!” he yelled once again, “remember your enemy will never care!”

“Got that the few hundred times you said it,” I readied my battle stance, “now why don’t we finish this!”

“Gladly!” he roared swinging his sword.
I swerved right missing it then left then right then right missing all of them. I swung mine aimed for his neck but he held up his sword blocking me in the nick of time. I swung this time aimed for his ribs but he blocked it once more then I thrust it forward headed for his stomach, he jumped back and in a flash grabbed my sword hand. He shoved me forward headed for his fist but not this time! I leaned back missing it by inches and coming behind him. I rammed my foot onto the back of his knees. He knelt and it was my time to strike! I swung my sword and could feel it slicing through the air and headed for his neck. In the speed of lightning he held his sword up again, blocking it once more. He rammed his left elbow into my left ribcage. I groaned but abruptly he crushed his skull onto mine as I stumbled back feeling like a million stars were exploding in my head. A kick to my neck brought me down again but this wasn’t over, not yet! With me lying on the ground he swung his sword and could have almost had my head were it not that I rolled away just in time. I staggered to my feet then swerved right to miss the thrust of his sword. This was my chance to finish this! I grabbed his sword hand, drop my sword onto the ground for I needed both my hands for this move. I twisted his hand to his back then rammed my left fist onto his elbow with all my might. I heard his bones shatter, he groaned letting go of his sword. Once again I rammed my right heel onto the back of his knees and he knelt once more time and now to finish it. Still having a hold onto his fractured hand, I slammed my left knee cap right onto his temple leaving him disoriented. I did this one more time just for confirmation then let go of his arm and then with all my might I rammed a wicked right kick onto his neck. His head hit the ground with a thud as he let out another moan.
I kicked his sword away then picked up mine. He struggled to regain his focus and when he finally did my sword was comfortably placed on his neck, “Do not move old man! It’s over and I won,” I spoke with so much pride, happy that I had finally done it.

“Yes you did. And I am proud to say your combat training is over.” he uttered still recovering from my beating. I lent him my hand to help him up. I was extremely happy.

“Whoa! I did it! I gotta tell Melissa!” and without hesitation I run like a crazed maniac.

“Wait Lad!" I heard him shout as I ran into the house.
