POV Audrey
After another fight with my parents, I fled to the only place where I can get peace, music.
I always liked songs, melodies and all kinds of tunes. When I was little, I used to make up the tunes on the piano my grandmother had at home.
After my parents saw how much I loved playing, they decided to bring me a private teacher for playing, and now after many years of playing the piano, I have been composing my melodies very easily.
My room was so messy but I did not care, I just wanted to lie in bed and do nothing.
My parents didn't bother me while I was in my room; they know that when I'm upset they need to give me some space.
The bright sunlight lit up my room, so I realized it had been quite a while since I had entered it.
I usually lose my sense of time and act irresponsibly, it never bothered me, but it seems to bother people around me.
As I listened to music, I remembered that I had arranged with my good friend Lily to meet in the forest near my house.
I looked at my figure reflected in the mirror, my brown eyes with the little shades of gray appearing in them looked a little tired, for no particular reason I couldn't sleep so much tonight, as if I sensed something was going to happen, only I couldn't tell whether it was good or bad.
My brown hair was wrapped in a long braid that reached my shoulders and my dark dress stood in sharp contrast to my fair skin.
On my way out, I bumped into my little sister, Sophie. she played with her dolls and was so focused she didn't even notice that I had left the house.
Outside there was nice weather and a cool breeze blew over my face. Now it's the beginning of autumn, my favorite season. Not too cold, and not too hot, just the way I like it.
Lily and I have been good friends from elementary school.
I always loved to be alone and not to get too close to the other kids. I don't know how it happened, but I remember she just came over to me and started a conversation; we connected because we had a lot in common. I love her for accepting me as I am.
She always laughed at my British accent, but over time she learned to get used to it. She asked us to meet today because of an urgent matter.
She sounded a bit nervous on a cell phone, so I understood that this was really important. I've reached the beginning of the forest, I've always loved this forest, I do not even know why.
"Hey Audrey," I heard a voice calling me. At first, I looked at the landscape in front of me and saw no one.
I looked a little further, recognized it quickly, although her ginger hair fit in a little with the full environment of trees with orange and red leaves.
I ran toward her and gave her a tight hug. After we hung up, I noticed that there was a small box lying on the pink blanket she had brought.
We sat down on the blanket and then she asked, "You know you've always been my best friend, right?"
"Of course, and the same is for you," I said. It was obvious. I didn't understand why she asked me such a stupid question.
"And you'll always be," she said with a smile, but I could see the sadness in her eyes.
"Please get to the point, you worry me."
"Do you remember that I told you a while ago, that my parents wanted to move to Germany because of my father's job offer?" She asked me and I picked up things quickly, realized what she was trying to say.
"Are you leaving ?" I asked in a quiet voice.
"Tomorrow morning," she answered weakly.
I didn't know what to say, she was my best friend.
I try not to show feelings, but I love her too much, and I don't know what I would do without her."Are you okay?" "She held my hand gently, trying not to show how sad I was and to stifle the tears, so I faked a smile and said," Sure, I'm fine. I'll miss you very much".
She hugged me hard and finally turned to the box I'd seen before.
"It's for you," she said, handing me the box. It was made of wood and it was small, but I could feel its importance. I opened it gently.
Inside, I found some of our pictures together; one of my favorites is from my birthday, where we were photographed just as we took a bite of the cake.
There was also a shell there, from the day we went to the beach and laughed at some strange shell, it was a strange gray. And right at the bottom of the box, I could see a piece of paper; I could guess what it was.
"It's a letter, so you won't miss me too much," she said as I picked up the piece of paper.
"I'll still miss you," I said for the millionth time that day.
"I know," she replied sadly, and I could see the tears threatening to break out.
All this time I thought how hard it would be without her, but I did not even think how hard she was, she was moving to a whole new country.
"We'll keep in touch, don't worry, we'll talk every day," I said deliberately to cheer her up.
"I'm counting on it," she said, she gave me one last hug and stood up.
After a few minutes, her figure was small with every step I had barely noticed among all the trees.
I knew she didn't want me to leave her at the airport tomorrow, she hated goodbyes, it must be considered parting.
I felt so sad and even felt anger that raged within me, I wasn't angry with her, I was angry at this whole situation.
I felt more and more pain, as if something was burning inside me, I felt a strong heat, as if my body was on fire, it was burning up and burning until I couldn't take it anymore, I got up on my feet and waved my hand forward, and then in a moment I felt a great flame coming out of me and cleaning my body from the pain.
In one moment everything was normal, and in the next moment the whole forest went up in flames.
My eyes stared at the trees that were beginning to go up in flames.
I was frightened but quickly recovered myself and took the cell phone out of my dress pocket and called the fire department. Then I took the box and ran as fast as I could from the forest.
I don't know what happened to me, I don't know what it was or why it happened, but what I did know was that something irrational happened, something unnatural.
I could feel that after this, nothing will be as before.
