t h e p i r a t e c r e wStones crunched underneath my black biker boots, as I took long strides; confidence oozing off of me. The 20 minute walk to The heart home was quiet; there were no birds in the isle, no sounds of mellow music from young teens. Just a short scream in the far distance every now and then. To me, that was more calming than any bird noise, it was the sound of danger and the hairs on my arms bounced around in anticipation of it.
The childhood home of my older brother was like any home on the isle, sad and in desperate need of redecorating. Hayden was balanced on the roof of the home, highly resembling the Cheshire Cat; grinning at the sight of me. Seemingly effortlessly, he hopped from each window ledge and drainpipe until he reached the ground beside me.
"Hello dearest sister," his voice seemed alert for the hour.
"Hayden, brother, still hanging from drainpipes?" I smirked.
"Of course, Tee, still sneaking out behind daddy's back?" Using the name everybody called me, he replied menacingly.
"When will you realise Hay? It's not behind his back, in fact I'm doing it for his benefit. I'm experiencing the world at its cruelest hour, and that's how I'll learn how to survive whilst ruling the underworld." I grimaced at the thought of being like my father in the future.
"My apologies, I didn't realise how interested you were in your future career path," his smirk reappeared on his face, as our sarcasm bounced of one another. With my father ruling the underworld, I was very lonely at a young age until panic let it slip that I had an older brother. As a five year old I was ecstatic at the news of a sibling, knowing he was older too was also a benefit. I made pain and panic go find Hayden, telling panic I would let my father know that I knew about my new brother; you can imagine how much that worried him. Hayden was eight at the time, and since then we've met every other night at 2:30am; in secret behind our mother, and my fathers back.
"So should we go to Ursula's fish & chips?" Hays suggestion makes my stomach rumble, I haven't eaten since Tuesday and it's now Thursday.
"I could go for some food," i smirk as I look over at him.
"I'll race you, last person there gets their head chopped off," I joke as Hay grins back at me.
"You are on, little sister!"
Before He can say go I'm already racing in front of him.
"Hey, you cheater!" I hear him shout behind me, as I chorus back,
"evil beats good every time, and don't you forget it Hay!"I finally reach the opening of the fish & chip shop, waiting on the docks outside for my slower sibling. The fairy lights around the restaurant reflected on the sea below me that roughly moved with the isle winds. Water began to rise closer and closer upwards to me and before I could inspect further a voice interrupted.
"Careful lass, look any further down and ye might fall in," his accent so thick that I could recognise it in the loudest of storms.
"Harry Hook, to what do I owe the pleasure?" I glanced over my shoulder, my eyes wandering his features and ever present eyeliner.
"Well I saw a pretty, little blonde in the corner of my eye, looking as though she might go for a swim; I thought best to keep her company."
Before I could remark on the 'pretty' comment, Hayden's voice boomed through the night.
"She's got plenty of company, thanks."Hay's always been protective of me ever since we were kids. One time when I was nine my father was so angry at me that he locked me in a cage guarded by Cerberus and didn't feed me for more than two weeks until I nearly died from starvation. "Good food shouldn't be wasted on a disappointment," he told me. When Hay found out he walked me to and from the underworld gates whenever I left, for months, and was constantly trying to give me food and make sure I was never hungry. since nobody can know we're related we get misjudged as a couple very often, I know gross.
"Sorry blondie, loverboy awaits; see ye," Harry smirked as he sauntered away back into the restaurant.
"Hayyy," I said; dragging out the 'y' in his name, "what was that about?"
"Listen Tee, I don't care who you're friends with, or who you date; but Hook - he's bad news," Hayden tried to reason.
"We're on the isle, Hay, we're all bad news."A/N: I promise I'll try and make these chapters a bit longer once the story really starts, these first few chapters are kind of just going to be an introduction to Tee's life and all that jazz. Also the Cerberus was the name of the three-headed dog that guarded the entrance to Hades. Once again feel free to leave comments on how I could improve this book, or any suggestions for characters you'd like to see. ( maybe some new original characters?? ) Thanks for reading guys!
