                                                  Friends In High Places

This is the story of a girl named Casey Logan. And how her life had changed dramatically when she met two monster hunters, two London investigators, and a time traveler. Sounds like the start of a bad joke. But there is something about Casey. Something special. Something secret. Casey might not know it yet, but she is destined for something...unimaginable.

Casey and the Doctor were in the TARDIS, seeking adventure. The Doctor entered random coordinates into his console, not knowing where they'd end up. Once the TARDIS landed, they walked out of the doors to find modern day London. Not exactly "adventurous", in the Doctor's eyes. Casey had never been to London before, so she didn't mind. It was plenty adventurous for her. Although, the only reason the Doctor decided to stay was because there was a graveyard nearby with an angel statue, it's head buried in it's hands. That statue brought back recent, pain filled memories. Those poor Ponds....Casey wanted to go sight seeing, so, just for fun, the Doctor and Casey got on his motorcycle, and began driving to the London Eye. On the way there, something caught the Doctor's eye. There were police at an apartment on Baker Street. That seemed kinda adventurous. He stopped the motorcycle and put up the kickstand.

"Why are we stopping?" Casey asked. The Doctor motioned toward the crime scene.

"You up for an adventure?" He asked. Casey smiled.

"You bet! Allons-y!" The Doctor chuckled. They both walked down to the crime scene, the Doctor's psychic paper in hand. He approached one of the detectives.

"Hello, I'm the Doctor, this is my partner Casey Logan. We're here from Scotland Yard, I can show you my credentials." He held up his psychic paper, which showed the man exactly what the Doctor wanted him to see.

"I see. Nice to meet you, my name is Greg Lestrade."

"Hello, Greg. Can you tell us what happened here?" Casey asked.

"You're American."

"Yes, I am. Very good. Now, if you're done pointing out the obvious, can you tell us the situation?" The Doctor couldn't help but smile. Greg cleared his throat.

"Of course. What we seem to have here is a missing persons case. The victim's name was Jennifer Montgomery. We have reason to believe she was kidnapped at 8:14 last night."

"Sounds specific," The Doctor interrupted. "How can you be so sure?"

"Because it seems she was talking on the phone at that time, and it was...pretty bizarre. She left several messages on her friend's answering machine."

"Who was this friend?" Casey asked.

"Lucas Williams. He was her neighbor."

"What did she say in these messages?" Greg chuckled a bit.

"It was very strange. She sounded like she was being chased by someone. In her last message she said, 'The angels are after me.'" That definitely caught the Doctor's attention.

"And I assume this message was left at 8:14." Casey guessed.

"Correct."

"Doctor, what do you think?" Casey asked.

"I need to speak with you. Alone,"  The Doctor looked up in an apartment window for a brief second and saw a man with curly, dark hair watching them. Casey joined the Doctor by the motorcycle. "Casey, I've seen this before. Not exactly like this, but I've seen the thing that did this. We are dealing with weeping angels here."

"Angels? How could angels be so bad?"

"Trust me, they're bad news. They're not angels, per se, they're just statues. At least, when you're looking at them. The second you look away, they come to life. As long as you look at them, they'll stay statues."

"You mean like a schoolgirl with a crush?" The Doctor smiled a bit.

"A dangerous schoolgirl with a crush, but essentially, yes." The Doctor looked over Casey's shoulder, back at the crime scene. He saw the same curly-haired man talking to Greg. The man looked at the Doctor and began walking toward him. Casey turned around, noticing the Doctor was looking behind her. She looked back at him.

"Doctor, who's that?" She asked.

"I don't know." The man approached him.

"Hello, Doctor. So, what do you make of this?" The man asked. The Doctor was confused.

"I'm sorry, do I know you?" The man sighed.

"Very funny, Doctor. Now, all jokes aside, do you know what's going on here?"

"Seriously, a name? Anything?"

"Okay, fine I'll play along. Sherlock. Sherlock Holmes." The name didn't ring any bells.

"Is this how you introduce yourself to everyone?" Sherlock groaned.

"Doctor! Enough with the games! Is there any alien threat here or not?" The Doctor was suddenly intrigued.

"Alien threat?" He repeated.

"Yes, alien threat. I can't help but feel like all this is some sort of payback for what happened last time."

"Last time?"

"Is there an echo in here? Yes, last time. Remember? I met you and you seemed to know all about me." The Doctor started to understand a bit better.

"Oh...sorry. You know I travel in time, right? Not everything is exactly chronological."

"Yes, of course. That explains everything. Come to my flat. We've got a lot to discuss."
