"I am a writer. If there is any left over, then I shall be a woman."

Sade peeled off her leather jacket before placing it on the back of her chair.

Taking a seat in her chair, her body seemed to move on it's own to the eccentric voice of the woman on the stage performing.

The woman's hand brushed the strings of her guitar in her lap to make a perfect harmony with her voice as she sung what Sade recognized as Lauryn Hill's I Gotta Find Peace of Mind. Everyone in The Hive was enjoying the talented woman's performance and so was Sade.

She had decided to let loose a little to travel to downtown Atlanta to the popular jazz and poetry bar with a couple of friends from her study group. Sade was a lover of poetry and even wrote her own pieces but never got the confidence to read them aloud to anyone besides her best friend, Layla. Writing was definitely her passion and her love for her craft was real.

People clapped as the woman's performance came to an end. The woman stood up from the stool she was seated on and gave an appreciative smile to her audience and small bow before exiting the stage.

Sade watched as her friend who she recognized as Sammie come up after she came off and identified the woman by the name of Rose. She had no clue he worked as a MC here let alone liked the whole jazz/poetry scene.

"Sade, I'm about to go grab some drinks, you want something?" Tearing her eyes from the stage, she gave her friend Ron a small smile before answering.

"Um, sure. A sweet tea maybe?" Not surprisingly, Sade was going to be the only one who ordered an non-alcoholic drink. She wasn't too fond of drinking out in public, especially in an unfamiliar scene.

Nodding his head, he asked the other four people at their table before making his way to the bar to place the orders.

Sade used this time to glance around the bar and observe her surrounding, something she always did when she went out. She could feel the good vibes all around her as she watched people interacting and visually having a good time.

"It's pretty popping in here huh," her best friend Layla, who she was the closes with and knew the longest out of the five other people in the group. Nodding her head in agreement, "That it is. I can admit that I didn't know what I was getting myself into when agreeing to come here with you guys but I was mistaken."

"Duh, you were. I keep telling you that you need to get out more. It's not healthy to be cooped up in the house all the time."

Sade inwardly sighed. "I can't help it, I'm a homebody Lay, you know that. But I guess you're right. I do need to get out and mingle more."

"And find a man." her most outspoken friend, Evonna, added.

Layla nodded in agreement. "That too."

Rolling her eyes, Sade knew it would come soon. It never failed. She swore people were always telling her how she needs to get a man but don't have one themselves. Sade felt as if she didn't need a man. Even though it would be nice to have someone to find comfort in, having someone under her ass all the time didn't sound all too appealing to her either. It wasn't her thing to be hugged up with someone.

"Here y'all go. Can we just focus on not having a good time tonight and not my personal life? Geesh." Evonna & Layla threw their hands up in surrender at their friend. Sade thanked Ron as he sat her drink in front of her and she thought silently in her head that she should've made it an Long Island instead of Sweet Tea.
