Ashton and I walked into his bedroom and it was a mess. There were boxes everywhere and dirty clothes all over the floor.
"Ashton your room is going to drive me insane."
"What do you have OCD, or something?"
"Yes, I have OCD, and on the occasion messy rooms drive me insane."
"Well then I guess we have to clean my room."
"You mean I'll clean the room, while you sit and watch? I don't think so."
"Ugh, fine. If we aren't cleaning my room," I cleared my throat "If you aren't going to clean my room then let's do homework, so I don't have to it later."
"Okay, let's start with math."
I pulled out my math stuff and sat on Ash's unmade bed. We are learning about radical expression.
"Well, this should be easy."
"What do you mean easy?"
"Is this not easy for you?" I asked confused. He seemed to get it in class.
"Uhhh, no. Math is my worst subject. In fact I'll probably end up getting a tutor because I suck at it."
"I can tutor you. Math is my best subject."
"Really!?"
"Yeah, it's no problem."
"Thank you Spenc so much. You have no idea how much this will help me."
"You're welcome."
--------------------------------------
"Come on Ash. We've been working on this problem for 15 minutes."
"I don't understand how to do it Spenc. That's the problem. God, I suck at math so much. If you don't want to help me anymore I understand."
"Look at me. Just because you're not very good at math doesn't mean I'm not going to help you. We'll eventually get through this one, and then we can be done for now."
"Okay."
The problem was √108.
"Okay, so what can 108 be divided by?"
"I don't know."
"Ashton, if you don't think hard enough you'll never finish this problem."
"Okay, okay." I could tell he was in deep thought because his eyebrows were forrowed.
"Uh, 36 and 3?"
"Yes! See I told you if you thought about it it would be easy."
"Yeah, I guess you're right"
"Okay so after being broken down into 36 and 3, what do you do then."
"You have to break up 36 into 6 and 6, right?"
"Yes! Okay then what?"
"The two 6's have to be broken apart to 2 and 3."
"Mhmm. So then after everything has been broken down completely what do you do then?"
"Don't you have to find a pair of numbers and then you multiply the pair and put it outside the square root?" I shook my head so he knew he was right, "So then you multiply 2 and 3 and put the 6 outside the square root and then the extra 3 goes on the indside of the square root."
"Yes! Ashton that's it!" I said loudly reaching over to hug him. When I pulled away he pulled me back.
"I like it when you hug me."
