Friday nights are always the best. Everyone is crazy with excited energy for the night ahead. Especially since we've all survived the first week of a new semester.

"You guys better fucking be ready when I get there." I say into the phone.

"Of course we will." Kiera giggles as I hear Harley say something to her in the background that is indistinct through the phone. Not that I would want to hear whatever perverted shit comes out of his mouth anyway.

When I get to the dormroom, I open the door to find Harley sitting on his bed throwing jokes at Kiera as she attempts to apply her eyeliner without messing it up as she laughs at Harley's shitty jokes.

Like the nerd that he is, Alex sits at the desk on his side of the room. His earphones in his ears as he types away at his computer. Not even noticing my presence. He's probably getting all the assignments done weeks in advance.

"Are you guys ready?" I ask. I don't want to be in this shitty dorm room any longer than I have to be.

"Yep." Kiera says, putting the cap back on the eyeliner pen. She uses the mirror as she ruffles her bleach blonde hair and rubs her lips together making sure that her pink lipstick is evenly spread.

Harley stands from the bed and turns towards Alex. "You should come with us."

Alex looks up from his books at Harley. "No. I'm okay here. Thank you for the offer though." The boy's rejection is polite.

"You're okay here. But at the party, you could be great." Kiera injects.

"She's right, you know. It'll be a good chance for you to get to know some people around here." Harley tells him, using the exact same argument as last time.

What's with these two wanting Alex to come to the party so badly? He's a nerdy loser who has probably never been to a party before in his life. He'd rather be at home studying. I don't think he's about to break his good boy attitude now.

"Guys, can we just fucking get out of here?" I want to leave and get to the party.

"Gemma, help us convince Alex to come." Kiera begs, her eyes flickering with a hint of mischievousness. I don't even want to know what she's plotting in her head at this very moment. Whatever it is, it could probably result in some serious trouble.

I roll my eyes. "Oh come on. You really think this kid is going to come to a party? He's way too good for that shit. In fact, I reckon Mummy and Daddy warned him not to go to parties with people like us. Isn't that right, new boy?" I taunt. He knows that I overheard his conversation with his parents about the possibility of him needing to switch rooms because they don't like Harley or anyone that Harley is associated with, including me.

Kiera and Harley stay silent, neither of them knowing want to say. Harley's roomie looks like he may cry any second. "Yeah." His voice is fragile. Delicate. He's close to breaking point. I don't think I've seen a boy Alex's age so close to tears before. Ever. "I don't want to come." Alex confirms.

"Well, if you're sure, then I'll see you later." Harley says. I open the door and gesture for Kiera and Harley to leave the room before me.

"Gemma, what the hell was that!" Kiera snaps at me.

"What was what?" I ask innocently.

"You were so rude to him." Kiera replies.

I roll my eyes and cross my arms over my chest. "Newsflash Kiera, I'm rude to everyone."

"Not like you were just then. You completely embarrassed him." She counters, copying my action and folding her arms across her chest.

"You should go back there and apologise." It may seem like Harley is offering me a suggestion but his tone tells me that it's an order.

"Why should I? He's just a loser that you got stuck with for a roommate"

"You think he's such a loser? Well, maybe it's because of people taunting and embarrassing him for no good reason, like you just did. You should go back there and ask Alex to come to the party."

Great. It's two against one. Clearly, I'm not going to get out of this unless I ask Alex to come. Sighing heavily, I walk back into the room. Alex is still sitting at his desk, typing away. His earphones laying on the desk. He was only using them while Kiera and Harley were here. Probably to block out the sound of them talking so that could focus.

Alex turns around when he hears the door open and close. "What are you doing here, Gemma?" He asks, his tone reserved. He spins back around on the chair, his back directed at me.

I cut straight to the point. I don't want to run around in any circles with this guy. "Kiera and Harley think I was rude to you and that's why you don't want to come to the party. They made me come back here to tell you that you should come to the party, if you want."

"The world doesn't revolve around you. If I wanted to come to the party, which I don't, I would regardless of what you thought." Alex tells me, his voice strong. I can tell he's trying to be assertive. It surprises me, his tone. I didn't think he had it in him. The tint that fills his cheeks, making them red tells me that he's embarrassed and shocked by his outburst too.

"You don't have to come. It was just an offer. Take it or leave it." I snap back at him, turning on my heel, I start to walk back to the door. I grab the handle in my hand with every intention of just leaving without saying anything more to this infuriating boy. But then again, I am who I am and I've never been good at biting my tongue. Letting go of the door handle, I turn back around.

"Maybe you should start acting like a college student rather than acting like you're better than the rest of us because, I hate to break it to you, but you aren't. I know that the world doesn't revolve around me but it doesn't revolve around you either."

I turn back around and grab the door handle.

"Wait!" Alex says.

"What?" I snap at him, turning around once more to face the stubborn boy, since he's captured my attention.

"I suppose one party can't hurt right?"
