chapter 9: Forever falling...

Your p.o.v.

I felt like shit. I hadn't slept more than a few hours each night since Cardick and his meatheads decided to fight me, and Cardick called me a monster. Of course, no one was any the wiser as to my condition.... or so I thought.

Blake's p.o.v.

'Y/n's not acting normally... plus, he looks like he barely slept over the past few days....' i thought to myself. I was brought out of my musings by Yang poking me, and saying," Remnant to Blake, you there?" I jumped, and said," yeah, I'm fine." Yang said," still worried about y/n, huh?" I nodded. Yang, in a rare moment of seriousness, said," hey, if you need to talk, I'm here for You. Ok? All you have to do is ask." I nodded, smiling.

Your p.o.v.

After collecting four jars from professor Goodwitch, I walked over to my team, saying," ok, Kage, you babysit Zinnea. We dont need another one of her sugar highs." Kage said," sure." As he dragged Zinnea off while she sputtered incoherently, face red from embarrassment. Asher said," what do you want me to do?" I saw Jaune follow Cardin, and I said, " you go ahead and start collecting a jar. I've gotta go check something real quick." He nodded, and walked off. I leapt into the trees, following Team CRDL and Jaune as they journeyed through the forest. I frowned as they stopped in the same general vicinity as Pyrrha.  Cardin said," now, Jaune, I bet you're wondering why we have six jars of sap when there is only five of us." Jaune said," yes, that's one of many things I'm wondering." Cardin said," well, I brought that box of Rapier wasps that you so generously gathered for us, and according to a paper you wrote for me, they just LOVE sweets. Now, follow me." They walked up to a hill overlooking Pyrrha's position, Pyrrha none the wiser. Cardin said," you're gonna throw a jar of sap at her, or I'm gonna have a quick chat with Goodwitch and your sorry ass will be on the first bullhead out of beacon. I saw a look on Jaune's face. It was a face i was all too familiar with. It was the face of a man pushed too far. He drew his sword, saying, " I may be sorry and hopeless.... but you leave my partner out of this!" He dashed forward, landing a solid blow on cardin's hand, knocking the jar into his chestplate, shattering it. Cardin looked shocked, but that face quickly turned to one of barely contained rage. He said," You've done it now, you blonde shit-" Jaune said darkly," come at me, then. See what happens." All four members of Team CRDL rushed Jaune, prompting him to take... no stance at all. I thought,'WHAT THE FUCK?!?!? TAKE A STANCE!!!' Until I saw just what he was doing. I saw a faint white light gathering around his body. I nodded, smiling as i realized that Jaune had finally done it: he had managed to activate his semblance. I watched with a smile as he explosively released his gathered aura, knocking team CRDL flat. He walked up to Cardin, and said," just because I never went to combat school doesn't mean I didn't train just as hard as you. In fact, I probably trained harder. We're not so different, either. We've both lost something or someone precious to us. I lost my sister to a mission. And I can only assume that your hatred of the faunus has something to do with your loss. My advice is this: not all faunus are the same. Not all of them are like the white fang. In fact, hardly any of them are. So if you want to be a better Huntsman, learn to see people for who they are instead of what they are. " Cardin looked.... guilty. He said," my sister was murdered by the white fang. At the time, I was 6 years old. I've lived with a constant dislike ever since. Now that I'm older, and I've met faunus that arent radical murderers, I want to change, and be nice.... but old habits die hard. It's hard to just drop 12 years of hate." I called out," Cardin, let me let you in on a little secret." As i jumped out of the tree and walked over to him. I said," it is hard. But you can do it. The mere fact that you're willing to even entertain the idea of changing your attitude is the first, most important step. Now you need to right your wrongs. Even if they're not willing to forgive you then and there, at least you got closure. And actions often speak louder than words. Just by showing up to apologize, you make yourself look at least a little bit better to the people you've wronged. I'm not going to lie. There will be people who wont believe you at first. But you just need to accept that and not try to force them to forgive you." He nodded, and said, " well then, I'll start here and now." He stood up, and said," Jaune, Y/N, I'm sorry." I looked at Jaune, and said," apology accepted, Cardin." And held out my hand for shaking. He hesitated, and I said, " I wont bite." He chuckled, and said," thank you. For making me see reason." Jaune said," no problem, Cardin. Always happy to help a friend." A wide grin plastered on his face. Jaune fist-bumped Cardin, and they laughed. I glanced over to Pyrrha, and smiled. She gestured for me to come over, so i did. She said," you're an excellent speaker. Has anyone told you that?" I nodded, and she said," Your words have a power I've seldom seen." I said," I just know how to appropriately phrase things." Someone calling my name drew my attention. It was Blake. I said," oh, hey. Whats up?" She said," can we talk in private when we get back to beacon?" I said," yeah. Why?" She blushed, avoided my gaze, and said," i-i just need to talk with you in private. That's all." I said," ok." Little did I know that the "private conversation" would lead to something else. But I didn't think on the matter as we boarded the bullheads to return to beacon.

A/N

Wow. That took a lot longer than I expected. I figured that Cardin's prejudice didn't come from being raised that way, so I wrote it as the white fang had killed his family since they were human. And FYI, Jaune will NOT be a weakling in this story. It makes much more sense for him as the son of a famous hunter to have received private tutoring instead of going to combat schools like signal. Not to mention, since Jaune blew up on Cardin in the forever fall scene in volume 1 for threatening Pyrrha, I figured i'd give the Arkos shippers a treat and have Jaune go ballistic on Cardin for threatening Pyrrha here.

P.s. I have college finals In two weeks, then I have to find a job for the summer. Then I have to attend my girlfriend's graduation at the beginning of June. So until then, I probably wont update. Also, i need a cover for this story, as well as my others. Submit them to me, and we'll have a contest of sorts.
