Everything starts going in slow motion. All I can think about is my family. Without realizing it I am on the stage. My mom is crying, dreading the fact that her only son is about to participate in a fight to the death. Then Abby speaks up. " Now it's time to go inside." Natalie, Kylie, Christopher, and I all slowly get up and go inside.
Once inside, the peacekeepers split us up and send us to separate rooms. My room has an old wooden floor and gray walls. Very plain.
Finally, after what feels like hours, a peacekeeper comes to the door with my mother. For work, she does what everybody else does when it comes to district 12, and that's trading in the black market. "You've got sixty seconds," says the peacekeeper. As soon as he leaves, my mom rushes over to me and starts crying again. "Don't worry, mom," I say repeatedly. To which she responds "Please, please try to win." I fight back tears, but it's very hard."I will." That's when the peacekeeper walks back in. "Time's up," He states. He starts to come towards my mom. As he grabs her and pulls her out the door, I here her say one last thing: "Do it for me."
Author's Note: Sorry about the really short chapters. I'm new at this :p
