Prompt:
"Someone is stuck in time and can't get out. Your memory is misty and you can't remember much about the person. You are trapped in a swirly mass of dark colours, and you can't hold on to anything to stop you from drifting away. Every passing minute you lose a memory and time is running out..."

Darkness. The colors of darkness churned around the girl, but she was not nervous, for she did not remember what to be nervous about. She remembered very little of herself, and only wished she could hear someone's voice, for she was lonely.

Then it came, a quiet humming from afar. The girl recognized the lullaby, but she couldn't remember from where it came. She wandered blindly, following the voice, and her cheeks became wet with tears, but she knew not why. She wandered until she came upon a beautiful lady sitting on a wave of grey darkness, singing the familiar lullaby.

The woman met the girl's gaze. Her eyes were wet as well. "Will you return?"

"Return where?" The girl asked, then the lady beckoned her closer and embraced her.

"To where you came from, of course. Would you like to see the sun again?"

"Very much, but how would you get me there?"

"You need know only that you can go, child. Will you?"

"I'll agree if you come. You see, I know that lullaby, but I can't remember the words."

Just then, the darkness around them convulsed, and the woman hugged the girl again as tears fell from her own cheeks. "As long as you are safe, darling, it doesn't matter what happens to me."

The darkness started to melt. The girl didn't want to leave the memory she had found, but there was nothing she could do, so she let the woman hold her hand as the light filled her vision. "You are my daughter, and as long as you live, I will, too."

The girl opened her eyes to a hospital room and the sound of a straight line. She looked to the bed next to her, where the lady from the darkness laid still.
