It was Thursday night when Taylor came in to say goodnight to me. I set down my phone and looked up.
"Hey. Have you finished packing?" Taylor said as she sat down at the foot of my bed.
I nodded, "Yep! I'm so excited to meet your parents, go on your plane, and meet your brother!" I beamed up at her.
Taylor laughed and I giggled alongside her.
"Good night Kaycee, go straight to sleep because we have a long day tomorrow." She said as she gave my hand a squeeze and pulled up the covers.
"Goodnight Taylor! Sleep well." I said as I turned over.
She got up to turn off my lamp then left, closing the door behind her. I tossed and turned for a while before I could go to sleep. I was so excited to go to Nashville, but when I fell asleep I slept soundly.
Taylor came bounding into my room at 5:30 am saying, "Wake up! We have about an hour until we have to leave!"
I jumped out of bed and exclaimed, "Yippee!"
I got dressed quickly in black jeggings, a t-shirt, and a grey sweatshirt. I brushed my hair and put it in a high ponytail. Then I rolled my suitcase downstairs to the foyer. I went to the kitchen to find Taylor eating some cereal with fruit on the side.
She patted the seat next to her, "Have some fruit and cereal with me."
I nodded, "Ok." I said, still half asleep.
I got a bowl and small plate, then milk from the fridge. I sat down and poured some cereal on then milk. I put some strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, and peach slices on my plate. I grabbed and spoon and starting eating.
"How was your sleep?" Taylor asked between bites.
"I couldn't sleep for a bit cause I was so excited, but once I got to sleep, which wasn't that late, I slept soundly. What about you?" I replied with a smile between bites.
"Great. I slept good too, thanks for asking."
We chatted through breakfast and putting our dishes in the dishwasher. After that, we took a short ride to the airport. When we got there we went a back way to avoid people. We boarded the plane without any problems. When we were about to take off I looked out the window and saw people on the ground waving light up orange sticks and yelling. We pulled out onto the runway and waited. Then a few minutes later we face forward and started to gather speed. I now realised I didn't like this at all. I clenched my teeth and my hands into fists.
That's when Taylor looked over at me, "Are you ok, Kaycee?"
"I realise I don't like this so far," I said through clenched teeth.
Taylor leaned over and my arm, "Are you going to throw up?"
"No, I'm just slightly terrified right now."
"Oh. It calms down when we reach the height were flying at for the rest of the flight."
I nodded stared straight ahead. After a few minutes it calmed down and I unclenched my fists. I looked down at me because they felt a bit weird. My eyes widened.
"Taylor...?" I said hesitantly.
"Yes?"
"Can I have few bandaids?"
"How many?"
I looked down, "Um, five?"
That when she looked up from getting a box of bandaids and said, "Let me see where you need them."
I had put my hands behind my back but winced and pulled them out to show them to Taylor.
"How didn't you realise how bad you'd cut yourself?"
I looked down at my hands. On my right hand were three in the palms and on my left there were two.
"I'm used to it, I guess." I shrugged and said still looking at my hands.
I heard Taylor unbuckle her seat belt and saw her kneel down in front of me. She motioned for me to hold out my hands. When I did she carefully put on the bandaids, silently. She pulled my chin up to look into my eyes. She grabbed my hands and held them in hers. She kissed my hands then rested her head on my hands.
I thought I might have seen her cry a little so I said, "What's wrong?"
When she looked up at me there were a few tears in her eyes, "Oh Kaycee. I don't want you to have to be used to pain. I'm so sorry."
I smiled gently, "Thanks for the sympathy, but I'm fine now! See!" I said as I held up my hands with a smile.
Taylor smiled, "Of course! Now, you feel better, right? Not scared anymore?"
I smiled up at her, "I'm good. I'm really excited though!"
She laughed, "We still have like, an hour and a half left."
I think I might have annoyed Taylor with how many questions I asked, but she just answered them patiently. Later on, I started to get sleepy.
"Can I take a nap?" I asked.
"Sure, you don't need to ask to take a nap! I'll wake you up in time for landing." She responded.
I nodded and dozed off. I dreamt that I was traveling with Taylor and we got separated. I dreamt that they made me go back to the orphanage, but it was worse and Lily wasn't there. I was calling for Taylor, but she wasn't coming. That's when I woke up with tears streaming down my face. I sniffled and Taylor came over and sat down next to me. She didn't try to talk to me but just held me tightly. That's when I truly started cry. She just held my hand and once in a while whispered comforting words to me. When I sniffled and looked up at Taylor she smiled down at me.
"What's up?" She asked.
"I just had a dream. I'm sorry I disturbed you," I said as I sniffled.
She took my hand with both hands and squeezed it again, "Oh Kaycee! Don't worry about disturbing me, that what I'm here for. What was your nightmare about?"
"It's just silly," I said looking down.
"Well, tell me anyway."
"Well... we were traveling somewhere and I got lost. Then no one let me find you and they sent me back to the orphanage." I paused to blow my nose, "Lily wasn't there and it was worse than before and they said they'd never let me leave. I kept calling your name, but you never came."
Taylor stroked my hair as I talked.
"Darling, I'd never leave you and if we got separated, I'd fight tooth and nail to get you back. I'd go to the ends of the earth to get you back."
I looked up at her with a watery smiled, "Really?"
"Really," She said and she squeezed my hand again, "We're almost there, I was going to wake you up in a few minutes."
I nodded, yawned, and gathered up my things. I was exhausted. We were told that we had just started to land and to make sure we were buckled up. I grabbed Taylor's hand and held on tight while we landed. When had parked I stood up shakily and, still holding Taylor's hand, got off the plane. We went through the back of the airport to an awaiting car.
A/N: Just the first part! Don't worry.
