When I woke up this morning I was drenched in sweat. At least I was still in my bed.
I followed the sweet aroma of bacon downstairs. "Mom?" I called out.
"Morning Carla! Come sit for breakfast, you have to get ready for school."
"Okay." I smiled, feeling relieved.
I quickly ate breakfast, got dressed, and hopped in the car to be driven to school. My mom dropped me off then Amy after.
Brandi missed all six of her periods today, and didn't bother showing up. Which was strange based on how weird she was acting last night, and I was getting pretty worried.
Now I'm here in the cafeteria, sitting alone since my best friend isn't at school.
"Carla?" I heard a voice approach the table then sat down. It was Dylan, Brandi's "boyfriend". At least I think that's what they are.
"Hey." I smiled picking at my mashed potatoes.
"Have you heard from Brandi? She isn't answering any of my calls or texts." he asked.
"Nah, she isn't answering me either. I'm kinda worried, but maybe she just got in trouble again or something."
"Alright, thanks." he smiled and left back to his table, leaving me alone like where I started.
Today was the worst without her here, and if she doesn't come tomorrow I'm gonna lose my shit.
After my mom got me from school, she left me in the car to get Amy like the usual routine. I've had such a long day without Brandi, so I was exhausted. I felt my self slowly drifting asleep as I laid in the backseat of the car.
About 20 minutes after I fell asleep, I wearily woke up to the car moving, so I'm guessing my mom came back with Amy. But there was one strange thing.
Amy wasn't here.
Not in her car seat, not in the seat next to me. Hell, she wasn't even in the car.
I finally sat up and rubbed the sleep out of my eyes. When I looked up at the rear view mirror my heart almost stopped. The person driving the car wasn't my mom.
It was the guy from the parking lot yesterday.
My eyes nearly ripped out of their sockets and I screamed at the top of my lungs, clearly losing my mind.
"Turn around! Get me out of here! Ah! Who the hell are you?!" I screeched.
The man pulled the car over into an empty grocery store alley.
"Listen kid, you either shut the fuck up, or I do it for you, got it?" he said pointing his finger a good 2 centimeters from my face.
I looked at him for about 5 seconds and began screaming again. The next thing I knew, there was a long strip of duck tape over my mouth, and I was knocked out cold on the back seat.
Angie's POV (Carla's mom)
"Yes, officer?" I said shakily with my phone in my left hand, and my daughter Amy in my right.
"I went to go get my daughter from school, and I come back to find my car missing. My other daughter was in there waiting and the key was in the ignition. I think someone stole it and drove off with her. Please send help!" I said beginning to panic.
"Okay ma'am, just calm down for me." The operator said.
"Calm down?! Someone kidnapped my freaking daughter, and my brand new car! So I know damn well you wouldn't be calm in a situation like this." I exclaimed.
