Do You Love Me?

It's been hours since everyone fell asleep. I can't sleep. I have my reasons, insomnia runs in my genes.

"Lightning..." Ky groaned in her dreams.

I shake my head slowly. Keyshia has been with me all her life, literally. We were born in the same hospital, at the same day and time. Many people in the Exodia called it a strange phenomenon, there has never been a situation on this planet where people born at the same place and day were also born on the same time. My family, The Xaviers were at the top of the food chain in the Exodia. Keyshia's was at the bottom. I was born into royalty, she was born in the slumps. Honestly Keyshia knowing me might have saved her. She struggled more than the average slump person. It was forbidden but my mother would secretly meet up with Keyshia's mother and set up play dates for us. After a couple of years it was known that "Prince Lightning" was friends with "That trash Momoichi." I had always defended her when I learned how to speak, no one in the village was particularly happy I existed but they had no choice but to respect me, however Keyshia they didn't have to respect. So they treated her like shit. They threw bread on the floor for her to eat and forced her to get on her knees and beg for anything she needed. I can only imagine the horror she's been through when Maru took me away.

I remember the first time I grew fond of Keyshia. My mother was going on a public speech. As she walked her red hair flowed behind her, I held on to her dress. My hair was pretty long back then too. I was three years old. I have periods of enhanced hearing even as a kid so as she got on the stage I would hear things like "Oh it's hell's favorite whore" "The evil bitch of the west is going to talk" "Look at her worthless son, he's heir to the throne I've heard" "He a piece of shit with no father anyway" honestly all I can think of about that time was that they should all die. But then I heard "Lightning. I know you can hear me. Do not listen to them, you are worthy and you are you, you don't need someone else's approval, but if it makes you feel better you have mine and you are my Prince." For a three years old, her speech was great. It must have been the first time I cracked a genuine smile. It's what kept me from snapping the last few months I spent there before Maru grabbed me.

I got off the chair and placed Tokine back on it, I was careful to not wake her up. I walked outside and stood at the edge of the cliff he cave resided on. I looked down, it's a really long way down. I take a forward step. Someone grabbed my arm before I fell.

"Do I always have to baby sit you Lightning?" Keyshia said

I sighed but didn't answer, I sit at the edge letting my feet dangle.

"Killing yourself is not the option."

"Why..."

"You're my reason for living Lightning, without you... I don't want to imagine a life without you." Keyshia tells me.

"I'm sorry." I replied

"You don't try to sleep?" Keyshia asked "You haven't actually slept in months, maybe that's why you keep on passing out lately."

"You know I can't sleep" I replied "That's not the reason either"

Keyshia looked at me, then she looked away her face obviously flushed but then she looked sad.

"Do you love me Lightning?" She asked as she sat down next to me and hugged me around the waist and leaned her head on my shoulders.

"What happened? Being 'just friends' ain't cut it for you?" I teased

"Not true, well it's not cutting it but, that's not it. Answer me." Keyshia said

"Of course I love you Ky, you've been there for me through everything."

"So why are you so friendly with Tokine, you were never that lenient with me."

I sighed. "I don't know, Tokine is... fun." I replied

"And I'm not?"

"I didn't say that."

"I was happy when it was just us two on this journey." She said, I semi agree.

I scratched my head. "I'm sorr-" Keyshia lips suddenly connected with mine. It was soft and tender, I felt a tear stream down her face. She wrapped her arms around me and kissed me deeper, I kissed her back. After a while she pulled back and her arms were still around me. Then a thought of hers hit me. One I didn't want to know.

"Lightning, I love you, I love you more than you will ever know, I will always have your back." she tells me. I was half pissed.

"So why didn't you tell me I destroyed the Exodia Clan." I whispered. Then slapped her hands off me. I was so frustrated I stood up. She was sitting there all quiet and shock. "Well?" She didn't open her mouth to answer. I got in her face "ANSWER ME!"

"Lightning your eyes are glowing, your fangs are showing." Keyshia said fearfully. I grabbed her by the neck.

"Stop dodging the question." I said

"Because had I told you earlier you would not have listened to any reasons, and you would have did something to hurt or kill yourselves, call me selfish but I cannot live without you Lightning, we been together all our lives I don't know nothing else." She said with tears coming out. I let go of her neck

"I killed everybody." I start to tear up. "I spent my life killing innocent people to get to the people involved and you mean to tell me all this time it's my fault? I can't take none of that back Keyshia." I got angry and punched the cave wall which bursted on impact. Keyshia then pushed me to the ground and landed on me. Behind her the cave caved in creating a small avalanche that she just saved me from. She looked into my eyes, I looked into hers, her green eyes.

"It was not you Lightning, I came to understand that, it was that demon inside of you, do not blame yourself. We will get through this Lightning, you and I. Like it has always been" I nodded holding back tears, what did I just do? I almost killed her. I embraced her.

"I'm sorry." I whispered

"Hate to break up the pre-sex but the sun is rising and we should get moving. So let's all be ready in an hour." Tokine said by the entrance, I realized the position me and Keyshia were in. I pushed Keyshia off me, she made an oof sound. I got up and dusted my self. "I-I don't have to explain my self." I said blushing. I walked away towards Thunder.

"Good Job, didn't take you for the dominant one, guess I'll have to step my game up" I heard Tokine say to Keyshia. I sighed.
