If you are a Muslim and it is prayer time right now, STOP READING AND GO PRAY.
****The weeding.
Layla POV.
I woke up really early to pray my tahajud (an early morning prayer that is not compulsory).
Today is going to be a long and eventful day. I woke up early so that I could get ready early for Ibrahim's wedding.
After I was done with my prayer, l rushed to the bath room. After I was done, I wore my silverish -lilac dress.
Ammna, Mona and I were going to wear the same dresses. I decided to do an updo with my hair, but my mother said no and that the bride was going to do an updo.I curled my hair until I was satisfied. Then I put makeup it wasn't too light nor was it too dark it was on point.
Later, I put for makeup for all my cousins and made our hijab style uniform.
We wore our silver heels and did a little twirl.
We spent ten minutes taking selfies and my younger cousin posted them on her snapchat. My mother came in, she said it was time to go.
"Ooo mom you look fabulous." I complimented. She smiled at me and said jzakallah."Well this is my sons wedding! what do you expect."She said proudly.
We all laughed at that."Naam Ummaya ( yes mother) we are coming." I said.
We quickly wore our abays and went down stairs. Ibrahim was going to take us to the hotel but we were to return with uncle Fahad.
We all sat in the car. My mother took shotgun. Ammna, Mona and I in the back."Mother, it looks like this is the last time you are sitting in the front." I broke the silence that was annoying me. Ibrahim loves driving at full speed. My mother hates it when he does that.
"That doesn't matter. All I want is my son to be happy. " She said in a happy tone. I looked at Ibrahim, but it seems like he is in deep thoughts. I was wondering what was going on in his mind right now.
"Ibrahim, is Rahma already on your mind?"
I teased as I stuck out my tongue at him
He took a quick glance at me . "no it's not that. It's just that...... "He trailed off."What? " I asked worried.
"You know mother wants you to get married but I don't."He said looking at my mother who was so confused in what he was talking about.
I realized that Ammna and Mona were also quiet. I look at them, they also looked confused. They shrugged their shoulders."You know what, drop it for today. It's your weeding!" I exclaimed.
This felt really awkward.I just wanted to get out of the car and sit on my own."Be happy you're bringing a new person to our house." I said with fake excitement, trying to lighten up the mood.
"Yay" he said dryly. "Aren't you excited?"I asked with confusion.
"Yes I am but more confused." Ibrahim said quietly.
I kept quiet this time. What do you even say to that?
Luckily, we reached the hotel. As soon as Ibrahim parked the car, I opened the door and and hurriedly walked out. Just as I took a step forward to let my cousins out. I saw an extremely handsome man he seemed to be in his late 20s. He was coming out of a C200 Mercedes-Benz. He had beautiful green eyes. He shut the car door and walked away with graceful steps. I quickly gathered my self and looked away.Astagfirullah this was the first time l looked at a non merhram for so long.
I felt ashamed.
My cousins came out and hugged me.This seems to calm my nerves."That is the brides brother." Ammna said.
"You remember Aman said Marwan is very handsome? well, that's him." Mona told me as she pointed at the man I was shamefully staring at.
Truly he was the definition of handsome. I thought.
"Let's go."I said, grabbing my cousins hands as we walked towards the entrance.
We entered the main section. Since the wedding was not mixed, the men were in a different section. This was an advantage for us as we took off our abaya and scarf. It took approximately 20 minutes for the bride to arrive.
All the lights had dim lights on. Only one extremely bright as it was in the direction of the bride. It was put In Such a way that It moved as she did.She was wearing a stunning white gown with silver embroidery. She looked beautiful.
Her green eyes resembled her brothers.Once she sat on the double sitter sofa that was placed on the stage all the lights were brightened. My mother went to meet her first and I followed. I greeted her and complemented her on how She looks. After a while my mother told Mona, Ammna and I to take the bride to the room where my brother would come to see her. We stood up and held her hand.
she got up we took her to her room. After a waiting for about 10 minutes , my brother arrived with his best friend Ali.We all gathers in room to see the newly married couple. We look lots of pictures and played a few wedding Nasheeds by Muhammad al muqit.
An hour later we left the couple and went to serve the food.
We were talked with random people.
After I finished my food, I started taking more selfies with my cousins.
Mona started making funny faces. This cracked me up. I started laughing as my curls started bobbing. We all started laughing at her craziness.
I felt some one stare at me. You know that feeling when you can tell someone is looking at you, that feeling.I turned around and my gaze fell on Marwan, Rahmas brother. He was holding his sisters hand and his gaze was on me. His expression was somewhat amused and annoyed.
I quickly shook my head and ducked. He could still see me. I thought. Then, I went under the table.I pulled my hijab and abaya from the chair. I wore my abaya and as I was wearing my scarf, my fingers brushed over a lady's feet.
Oops I thought.
I heard a loud screech.Immediately,I got out from under and sat on the chair."I think a jinn touched me !"She screamed hysterically.
I looked else where trying to act innocent. Okay, I did feel guilty. But then, I felt someone's gaze on me once again.
I turned to see Marwan. He knew it was me. When he realized I was looking, he quickly looked away. I brushed it off and decided to give my uncle a call...It was about 7:30 pm when uncle Fahad came to pick us up.
Ibrahim and his wife would spend a night in the hotel.
We waved at them and started walking.I can't wait to get into the covers. What an exhausting day!
I can't believe next day they would leave for their honeymoon to Paris.
I'm so happy for them.
