First she was studious,
Immersed in her books
Had a few friends,
Who weren't there for her looks.

Then 'they' came along,
And told her she wasn't good enough.
Made her change her ways.
Trying to prep for their kind of stuff.

When they accepted her,
It was only for her new looks.
She left her old friends,
And bid farewell to her books.

Then the others came,
And told her that she must look cool.
So she changed yet again,
Believing that she was a fool.

She changed and changed,
Yet again,
Listening to their comments,
Believing she wasn't good enough for them.

Now she stands,
All her pieces lie scattered.
Trying to place them in order,
Not knowing the true pattern.
