Fawn woke up to the sound of her alarm going off. A little cuckoo clock by her bedside table. Fawn suddenly smiled, remembering all that happened last night. Nyx walking her home, their goodbye.
“Maybe I’ll see Nyx today” Fawn thought to herself.
She seemed to enjoy Nyx’s company now that they had taken the time out to get to know each other. And now that Nyx didn’t think of Fawn as the fairy that was always bringing dangerous animals into Pixie Hollow. They seemed to get where the other was coming from in terms of their jobs.
Fawn arrived at work. She greeted the other fairies and headed to where the bunnies were. She started training them on how to hop. The bunnies were happy to see her. Fawn was a fairy with a big heart and she took to the animals very quickly. She had a warm presence about her that made all the animals love her.
She started training them hopping. First she showed them how to do it, by getting on all fours and trying her best to hop.
“See, you just have to use the back of your legs to push forward like this...” Fawn said as she hopped towards the other line.
“Okay now you guys hop”
The bunnies tried their best to imitate Fawn. They all hopped towards the other end of the line.
“Good job everyone!” Fawn exclaimed. She gave each of the bunnies a berry treat. They all smiled as they happily ate up their berries.
There was a rumbling in the distance, it was growing louder. The bunnies perked their ears and tried to listen for it. Fawn heard it too, and before she knew it, a cart came crashing through the bushes. The bunnies scattered away so as to avoid being hit by the runaway cart. Fawn flew up to evade the cart. The cart crashed against a nearby rock.
Tinkerbell and Rosetta came flying behind the cart.
“Rough morning Tink?” Fawn asked as she saw Tink huffing.
“Are you alright, Sugar?” Rosetta asked Fawn. Clearly sweating.
“I’m alright Rosetta. But are you alright? You're sweating” Fawn said with a hint of humor.
“All in a day’s work Sugar” Rosetta tried to wipe the sweat off with a leaf.
Tink and Rosetta tried to put the cart back together as much as they could manage and pushed it all the way back to Tink’s workshop.
Fawn waved them goodbye and began looking for the bunnies. She called out to them and all except one of them came back. Fawn was worried about that bunny in particular because it was a much younger bunny. She named him Hoppy.
“Hoppy where are you?” Fawn put her hands to her mouth and called out.
Fawn was getting more worried. She flew out in the direction all the bunnies had scattered to. She called out the bunny’s name. A few hours passed and there was still no sign of the bunny. Fawn was exhausted, but she didn’t let that stop her. She was almost near the forest.
“Hoppy would never come this far. He knows the forest is off limits” Fawn said to herself.
“Fawn, what are you doing all the way out here? You know no one is allowed near the forest”
Fawn turned in the direction of the voice and saw Nyx flying towards her.
“Nyx! Thank god I found you” Fawn sighed in relief.
“What are you doing here, Fawn?” Nyx said in her usual firm tone.
“I was training bunnies in the nearby field when this runaway cart came out of nowhere and scared the bunnies away. All of them came back except Hoppy” Fawn said.
