A Whole New World

Chapter 6

The riders walked slowly through Arcadia, wondering at the scenes before them. Jim explained everything that he could as they went, and it was nearly too much newness for them to take in. Dagur, walking alongside Blinky, gasped when a car zipped past. "What was that!?" he exclaimed. Blinky told him that it was an automobile, which humans used to get from place to place faster than they could walking. "Ooh I want to ride one!" Dagur was a very amusing man, but his energy was almost manic-seeming to Blinky.

Curious, Blinky asked Dagur to describe his world. The viking went into a long description of the islands and seas, seeming to know them like the back of his hand. "I'm chief of the berserkers, but I'm also the king for the Defenders of the Wing ever since I married Mala. And Hiccup here is the son of Stoic, who's also a chief. Hey- I've been in tons of fights, but I've never fought a troll. Maybe we could help you guys." Hiccup, over his shoulder said, "Dagur, we would need to think about this before just rushing in- we don't know anything about this world." dagur shrugged nonchalantly, but whispered to Blinky, "If I see any big evil trolls, I'll kick their butts."

Later that night, or early that morning, the trollhunters snuck down dark tunnels, finding an entrance to trollmarket that was more hidden than the main known entrances. Peering through a small hole into trollmarket, Blinky pointed at passing guards. "These soldiers are all controlled by Gunmar. Many of them were trolls I knew, captured when gunmar invaded."

Hiccup glanced at his friends, their faces telling him all he needed to know. "This looks bad, I'm so sorry." Jim stared into troll market, his lips pressed in a thin line. "Obviously, as you can see, the trolls are not safe here. Gunmar has spies everywhere, and it would only be a matter of time before he found them if they stayed here." Hiccup nodded slowly, but then he narrowed his eyes. "He looks important."

Blinky looked over Hiccup's shoulder and froze: it was Dictatious! "He is important, and he's also my traitorous brother." One of the twins,probably the male one- Blinky couldn't tell them apart very well- craned their neck and shoved Hiccup out of the way to see. Unfortunately Tuffnut pushed too hard and stumbled, and, with everyone watching in horror, he went through the wall, landing with a crash right in front of Dictatious.
