chapter 9 - to stay with

It was the end of this extreme event. Eveline was aggressive throughout the battle; she did whatever she could to fight against those people. Her solid strength and power weaken Superman to his core. She knew his weakness. The kryptonite which she clasped closely to him. He seemed cold and dead, like a corpse. And after the ship Brainiac disposed of the others forcibly, she captured Superman successfully. Her mind was strong, expanded, and able to handle Brainiac's ship.

Throughout her small tasks. She approached Brainiac. His taking the city was brought back to earth, although his true intentions were to take Superman wh, ich Eveline did herself. She thought to herself how petty Brainiac's companions were while they were on Earth. The ape wh, ich seemed brutal, turned weak. However, he appeared loyal to Brainiac.

Nevertheless, what has been done? The ship of Brainiac's was on auto, away from the earth after the chaos. She kneeled on the ground, studying Brainiac. In an immediate pulse, she pounded roughly onto his chest. Brainiac yelped in realization. He rose and faced Eveline, who was standing up with him.

"What is the latest status?" He asked, rubbing his chest from her violent awakening. "You failed to fight the others as I controlled the matter. I have forcibly removed the Bat along with his companions. Successfully apprehended Superman."

"You managed to capture the Kryptonian? His expression grew to surprise. "Yes. It wasn't easy. The kryptonite is their weakness, as I remembered." Eveline rubbed her arm as her eyes were straining.

"Where is he?" Eveline gestured for him to follow.

They were led to his examination room, and betas were all over. Superman was weak and asleep as he was kept in a chamber. Brainiac's eyes dilated upon the captured specimen. Without smiles, Eveline sensed he was impressed and glad. She did not understand his obsession with Kryptonians or anything of his collection but went along.

"You've done well. Much more succeeding than the others I've trusted. Your loyalty and gratitude will be rewarded with the requested freedom."She glared at him emotionally; she had expected this moment for a long time. Freedom. Yet, other thoughts have jumped in after this corruption and turn of events. She felt the need to say it.

"I know I said I wanted freedom. Yet, after everything. Going back to earth to take petty wraith on those who kept me. And afterward. I will face solitude and another purpose that will not result longer."

"...If I can...I would stay here to serve a greater purpose."

Brainiac stood idle to her response. With honesty, he did not want to decline. She was limitless, extraordinary, and different."Preferably, I would travel alone. Yet perhaps having you, you would not disappoint. You serve a great deal than Grodd."

"There is no reason for me to argue with you. If that is your final answer-

"It is. Positive."

Eveline was stern with her decision. He nodded once as he understood his decision. Then another thought came in. She glanced at the unconscious floating body of the Kryptonian."What will you do with his Kryptonian?" Eveline questioned.

"Dissection will be occurring as I will study his cells. He was a sole survivor, and I finally have him." Eveline could tell he was pleased. More of Brainiac's betas came in; Eveline disliked them and took her to leave. At one of them, he did one more glance at her. He thought of her being impassive of her achievement. I did not understand the ecstasy and success of her capture and the handling of the situation.

In the grey darkness, she lay quietly, thinking softly. She rested after the row of battles. After everything, she knew she would be doing nothing. But perhaps some turn of events can happen.
