Chapter 1
~Dove's POV~
"Dove!" my mom called up to me from the kitchen, "C'mon you're gonna be late for school!"
"Coming Mom!" I yelled down the hall.
I rolled over to check what time it was, my clock read 6:13 which means I only have 17 minutes left to get ready. I sluggishly pulled down the covers and got out of bed and walked to my dresser. I picked out a lace top, a floral skirt and some high heels, I'm only 5'2" so they come in handy. My long blonde hair bounced around my head as I put on my top and my legs looked so pale and skinny when I put on my skirt I decided to put on some jeans instead. By the time I was done putting my makeup on it was already 6:25 so I hardly had anytime to get breakfast before I left for the bus. I went outside and it was rather chilly for a day in September and I wished I had worn a coat or something. I walked a block or two to the end of my road, Bainbridge Lane, where my bus stop was and I saw my best friend, Veronica St. Clair, waiting for me. Veronica's dark brown hair was being blown around by the wind and she was wearing one of her favorite sweaters that read "Bonjour Garçons" on it with her red skirt. I loved the way it looked with her dark brown eyes and it complimented her light skin. She must've heard me walking over because she turned to me and smiled.
She shouted from the bench she was sitting on, "Dove! Over here!" and gestured over to the seat next to her. I awkwardly jogged towards her in my heels and sat down next to her.
"You made it this time!" she giggled. Yesterday I may have missed the bus by like 20 minutes and came into first period late.
"Thank goodness" I responded, "So how's your math project coming?" I curiously asked, I had been working on it for so long last night.
"I'll start it tonight." she said.
I scoffed "of course you will. You know it's due tomorrow right?"
"oh chillax" she joked, "I'll finish it, I promise. But onto a more important topic, what happened with you and Ryan yesterday? I saw you walking down the hall together! What's going on with you two?"
"Nothing's going on," I said much too defensively, "he was just walking me to class."
"Mhm, sure he was." Veronica said suspiciously. Although I didn't actually tell her I liked Ryan, she can tell much too easily when I have a crush. Veronica opened her mouth as if to add something but we heard the bus pull up to the curb and we clambered on.
