It all starts normal, they're just playing pool and trash talking, "your mom" jokes, simple insults. Anna starts getting beat by Alec and I start to daze off, joining in with the trash talk. As Alec starts to win- even more than before - the topic of crushes comes up.
"Anna and Marco sitting in a tree," Alec starts jeeringly.
Anna never told me that she liked Marcus. But then I see her face, and it is quite obvious that she does NOT like Marco. She is sending Alec the death stare, since she takes pool seriously.
"Stop distracting me!" Anna retorts, missing the hole by a mile. Just then, Louis and Alysseta walk in to watch. Apparently their group didn't need their help with chalk outside.
"I'm not distracting you," Alec smirks, hitting his last ball into the hole.
"Yea, you're just distracted because you've got Marco in your heart." I (quite stupidly) join in.
"Well," Anna splutters as she aims for her second chance shot, her only shot at winning, "You've got Mike in your heart!" She shouts triumphantly as she makes the hole. Then, guilt passes like a shadow over her face as she realizes what she did. It feels like everything is in slow motion. Everyone's heads snap to me.
"You like Mike?" Alec says, WAY too loud. I glare at her. How could she do this to me? I trusted her.
"I..I... No, I don't like Mike." I stutter.
" Their ship name! What's it going to be?" Alysseta exclaims, jumping up and down. Thankfully, he's not here today. Then, we switch stations with our groups. Off to the park I go, trying to forget what just happened. Unfortunately, lunch ruins all progress I might have gotten. As soon as I sit down, the teasing starts.
"So," Tom starts, "How was pool? I wish I could've beat Anna myself, but I hear Alec did it for me." He looks to Alec.
"Yep, I did," Alec says, popping the "p". He looks like he is about to say more, but then Alysseta sits down.
" I have a new couple name for you two!" She blurts, barely taking another breath before she continues. " It can be M&M! You know, like the candy!" I deflate. I was hoping for two things and it seems like neither of my wishes would come true. Please don't continue. Someone shut this conversation DOWN. I pleaded silently. Unfortunately, no lightning bolt struck the table.
