Unexpected Love

I had followed Tyler after he had went to the janitor's closet.

I had opened up the door and said, "Do you need to talk to someone? Or do you just need time alone?"

"Just leave me alone," he covered his head with his hood.

The rest of the day went quickly, English, Gym, Chorus, dismissal. The best part of the day.

Right after school I went to my phone to see if Tyler was alright.

Why do I all of a sudden worry about boys? We couldn't even date anyway because of the stupid fourth rule.

I had texted him saying, Where r u? I wanna walk home with you. Then we talk of u want.

I was hesitating to send it or not, but I clicked the send button.

Oh crap, I forgot he's in detention for swearing in the hall way while a teacher was around.

But as I was about to wait for Tyler so I didn't have to be alone, my friend Brianna came up to me and asked if I wanted to walk home with her.

I wanted to go with her, but I couldn't just ditch Tyler after what had happened in the lunch room.

So I came up with a lie and said,"Uhh, I have to do a school project... with H-Hailey, yeah that's right."

I saw Tyler walk out with his hands in his shorts pockets, as he looked around, he probably thought no one was around so her did something I never thought he would do for so tough of a guy I thought he was.

He sat against the school wall, and put his head in between his knees, and started to cry for about 5 minutes.

Until I couldn't stand there waiting around, so I walked up to him and asked him, "What's wrong? Is there something bothering you?"

"I hate my self for beating up my own," he did the quotation thing with his hands, "'best friend' and doing it over a reason that's very dumb."

I could tell he was depressed about something else, like something he could tell me because he was scared, but I didn't want to make his life worse.

"Anyway I was waiting to see if you wanted to walk home with me?"

"I would love to walk with you. One question, are we like friends or something?"

"I guess we could say we're friends," I could see his face light up when I said those seven words.
