Blair Seth was 14 years old, part of the last generation of humans. Nobody was younger than her, and one day she would be free from the constant repetition of life. She'd be free from the daily pills and drugs. But it wouldn't be anytime soon. Blair would wake up, take her pills, get dressed, brush her teeth, eat breakfast, and then walk to school. And it was like this for her entire life. This is all she had ever known. Was a world with no point. She didn't feel happy, she didn't feel sad, she felt nothing... and it was the exact same for everyone in the world. Like robots they were, all doing the same exact thing, not advancing in life, not learning their likes and dislikes, just numbness.
Blair stretched as she climbed out of bed, rubbing her forest green eyes. She picked up her pill bottle and quickly put a capsule in her mouth, pushing it down with water. The world she had seen in bright beautiful colors for a split second was once again grey. She got ready and headed for school, the destination her only goal. "Walk. Walk. Walk." She repeated to herself as her eyes became drowsy. She wondered what was going on, why she had a churning in her stomach, why she could walk straight ahead yet her feet dragged behind. Stopping for a moment she gasped for air, quickly collapsing onto the ground.
"Ma'am. Please stand up. Now." Blair quickly opened her eyes to see she was looking at a bright blue sky. The woman who was speaking to her had rushed off. Blue. A color she had only known in greyscale. A light grey, same as the light grey sky. But this was blue, the true color. She pushed herself off of the concrete, a weird sensation on her leg. Blair looked at her ankle to see another color. Red. It dripped slowly from a scratch, and the feeling was not good. Feeling. Feeling. Blair blinked quickly. Feel. Feeling. Her heart racing, she ran to school. She felt and wasn't getting executed. "Hello, Blair." Greeted a fellow student "Hello, Elsie." Replied Blair. She couldn't let anyone realize she was different, she couldn't let anyone realize she could feel, or else her life would not last much longer.
Blair was exited, yet terrified. What was happening? What is this strange world?
She temporarily met eyes with a boy, one she cannot remember seeing before. He wore a long sweater with a beanie, his hair slightly peaking out from the front. He had a terrified look in his eyes. Blair wondered if he felt too, but she needed to be able to speak to him in private. She needed answers, even if she didn't know this boy she could tell by the look in his eyes he could feel too.
