After never-ending distortion of all my senses for what seems like an eternity, and I finally realize what has happened, everything slows down. Blood everywhere. Screaming, pain, death.

The courtroom is full of screams of terror, clearly terrified of what could occur next. Before my thoughts can clear I hear the most unlikely of words come from Dezmond.

"Get down!" He screams while tackling me, while a bullet nearly hits me.

When I find a gap between the screaming and chaos, I sprint towards the exit, adrenaline pumping through my body, I'm shaking so rapidly that opening the doors causes me to collapse to the floor, the emotions hitting me all at once, sorrow, pain, tiredness and above all.

Anger.

In my peripheral vision, I can see Dezmond walk next to me, clearly trying to gather his thoughts as well. There's a long silence, finally I ask.

"Why?"
"Why what?"

"Why'd you save me."

"Shit, mate. Don't think that I did this because I got a hard on for you, I just refuse to lose sleep over letting some spoiled prick die without doing my best."

"How didn't you freeze up?"

"It's called fight or flight, clearly we picked different options."

Despite the malice intended in that statement, I can't help but laugh. This past week has been so tense that any humour has been made for levity.

"So." I say chuckling from his previous remark "Any idea what the hell happened back there?"

I ask, not really expecting an actual answer.

"I'm not sure." He says, his voice breaking with emotion.

I would give him a hard time for daring to show some emotion, but given the circumstances, I figure it's not a good idea. Plus, I'm not exactly in any shape to make fun of him for it.

"So..." I say, just trying to break the silence at this point "what do we do now?"

"What do you mean?"

"At risk of getting ahead of myself, don't you think we should figure out just what the hell happened here? I'm not sure about you, but I have a bit of a morbid curiosity about what happened here."

"You legitimately think it's a good idea to go against assassins who were able to assassinate two people at once?"

"So you're saying we just let them get away with it?"
"I never said that."

After this exchange, I turn my gaze to behind me and spot Matthew clearly trying not to lose his shit. He collapses to his knees, sobbing until he has no more tears left to shed.

I approach him and attempt to talk to him. "Matthew, are you okay?" He attempts to speak, but is still clearly trying to fully comprehend what just occurred, and so I decide to keep my distance for now.

I stand up, still severely shaking from the adrenaline rush, and unsure of what to do next. But one thing I do know, is that the people who orchestrated this, whether it be a random assassination, or meticulously planned, will not get away with this.

I'm not even sure where to begin. I know for sure that this will cause an even larger scandal then the one before it. Despite this dark event occuring, I can't help but laugh for some reason, whether it be me just in shock, or something else entirely. Regardless, I need to find out who did this, and why.

After the police arrive and question everyone and their mother in the courts, we're finally allowed to leave - with an escort, of course.

I can already hear Dezmond in my head just taunting me.
