Throughout the past day, I can feel that Matthew is slowly getting more and more annoyed at me, it just seems like he's internalizing it. I can feel his anger rising as I sit across from him at the table as I wait for Dezmond to arrive at take me from this personal Hell that Matthew and I call home and take me to our not so secret mission.

"So." Matthew says, breaking the silence suddenly. "I take it I'm not going to be able to stop you from going to this little gala?"

"Not really."

"Try not to go killing anyone again."

"No promises." I say half joking, deep down I know that it very well may happen, I figure I might as well just ease Matthew's worries.

Judging by Matthew's expression, it's obvious I haven't exactly eased his concerns, but he knows he can't stop me.

Deep down, I wonder if he really does want to join me, but feels it'd be morally wrong on some level.

Maybe that's just wishful thinking.

"So." Matthew says, interrupting my thought process. "When's your date going to be here?"

I roll my eyes letting out a slight smirk. As I glance over at Matthew's face, I can see it's less him trying to bug me, and more him just trying to fill the silence.

But not the good kind of silence.

The kind of silence where you wait for the pain to set in.

"Any time now." I say with a grin, desperately waiting for my "knight in shining armor"

Suddenly, I hear a knock at the door.

I open the door, half expecting to find Dezmond.

Instead, I find Sophie staring at me innocently.

Before I can even do anything, I hear Matthew marching out of the room.

"Feel free to play suction cup with your mouths!" Matthew exclaims, causing my face to go crimson red.

Before I can even respond, Sophie relentlessly probes me for answers

And not in a fun way.

"So, where have you been, Jensen?" She says, clearly not all too happy with me as of right now.

"You know." I say, shrugging. Trying to think of some excuse. "Just keeping to myself."

Sophie is clearly not convinced.

"I know what you've been up to Jensen."

I gulp so hard I wouldn't be surprised if she heard it.

"While I can't say I approve." She says, turning her gaze elsewhere. "I understand it."

"Thanks...?" I answer in a sarcastic tone.

"Look, I know you're going to the gala." She says in a cutesy voice.

"So?"

"Don't get yourself killed."

"And if I do?"

"Then you won't be able to get your little surprise." She says flirtingly, as she leans in she whispers, while caressing my face.

"I think you'll enjoy it."

Just like that my heart beats so fast, I'm surprised she couldn't hear it.

She steps back, removing her hands slowly. Walking away with a cute smile.
