Two-Bit comes barging into my room. I roll over and look at the clock. 6:30.
"What the hell, Two? How did you get in?" I exclaim as he looks around my room.
"Where's my Mickey shirt, Levi?" He asks wide eyed. "Anyways, your brother let me in. Get ready its Friday."
I shrug and flop down on my bed. Since my dad got arrested, again, me and my brother, James, live together since he's 20. He's never around but it doesn't matter. I roll out of bed and sho him out so I can get ready.
I walk to my closet and open the doors. I grab my black high wasted shorts, red crop top, and red Chuck Taylors. I get dressed and walk down stairs with my Chucks in hands. I walk over to the front door and put them next to it. I walk into the kitchen and grab a bananna. I eat it and walk back upstairs.
I walk to the bathroom to brush my teeth. When I finished I walked back to my room. I grab my make up bag from my drawer and set it on my vanity. I open it and grab the blush, foundation, mascara, eyeliner, and red lipstick. I go back to the bathroom and plug in my curlers. I put them in my hair and go back to my room to put on my make up on with the curlers still in my hair. Theres a knock at my door.
"What do you need, Two?" I ask and the door opens.
"Time to go." He says.
I nod and take out the curlers and shake my hair. I run down stairs and put on my shoes. Two-Bit grabs his keys and we walk out the front door.
We walk to the truck and he starts the it when we get in. I stare out the window.
"What's on your mind?" he asks still looking at the road. He glances at me.
"Just thinking about what's gonna happen today. I don't have a good feeling about today." I say.
About five minutes later we arrive at the Curtis' house. Two-Bit parks the car and we get out. We walk in and some of the gang is sitting down.
Johnny and Dally are in the hospital because Johnny and Pony ran away. Dally went to visit them since he hid them. Then they went to get food and when they came back the church they were staying in was on fire. There were kids inside and Johnny and Pony went to save them. The roof came down when Dally went to get Johnny out and they have burns. Dally will be out soon but Johnny might not make it.
"Hey," I say, "I'm gonna get a pack of ciggs. Then go see Soda." and head for the door.
"I have work. I'll go with ya." Steve says with a mouthful of cake.
We walk laughing and making jokes.
As we turn the corner a light blue mustang comes flying almost hitting me. They honk their horn.
"Watch where your going, bitch!" I yell at the car.
The car stops. Two blonds and a red head get out. I roll my eyes. The preppy cheerleader Socs.
"Who you calling the bitch, grease?" one of the blonds, Sally, snaps.
"I'm calling you the bitch, prep." I snap back and I feel Steve's hand on my shoulder.
"Awe is your trashy friend here to save your sorry ass from gettin' kicked." she asks in a baby voice and laughs with the other blond.
Before I know what I'm doing I jump on her taking her to the ground. I punch her once and then again. Blood runs down her face from her nose. She screams and cries for one of the girls. Steve yanks me off.
"Stop before you get into trouble, again. They'll make you leave for good." he says in a soft voice. I look at him and nod.
He helps me up.
"Bye bitch. Hope you learned not to mess with me." I say and laugh with Steve.
"Don't mess with her. She's the best girl fighter in Tulsa! She's a bad ass!" Steve says and high fives me.
"Hell yeah I am baby!" I exclaim and laugh as we walk away
"Hey, wait up." I hear a voice.
I turn around. The red head, Sherry Valance, come after us.
"Hey, I don't wanna fight or argue but I'm sorry about Sally. She gets that way sometimes." She says in a nice voice.
"It's cool. It wasn't your fault." I say with a smile. I like her so far.
"Okay, oh my names Sherry but my friends call me Cherry because of my hair." She say and holds out her hand. I shake it and so does Steve.
"I know. I'm a friend of Johnny and Ponyboy. I'm Levi and you know Steve?" I say shaking her hand. And Steve shakes it too.
"Okay well I should get back to them. I'll see you around?" She says
"Yeah, definitely." I say and she walks away. We continue to walk to the store.
"Is she the spy ya'll were talkin' about?" I ask looking at Steve.
"Yeah." Steve says.
We walk to the DX station where Sodapop is. We arrive and Soda's working on a car.
"Hey best friend!" I say cheerfully. Me and Soda have been friends since we were in kindergarden.
"Hey, Lev and Steve." He says and smiles. God I love his smile.
"It's finally Friday!" I say and I can't help but smile.
"We're gonna stomp them Socs real good!" He exclaims.
"You know it!" I say happyly.
"What time is it?" He asks looking for the clock.
"2:56." Steve say looking at the clock.
"I have break in four minutes. Wanna go to the Dingo for food?" He asks.
"Sure. And no shit we're getting food. That's what the Dingo's for!" I say laughing and playfully punching his arm.
"Oh." He says looking at his shoes blushing.
I can't help but smile at him.
"I'll catch ya'll later. I have to work the counter." Steve says and walks inside. "Oh Levi your ciggs." He tosses me them.
"Thanks Steve. Put it on my tab!" I say and he nods.
We head for the Dingo. We arrive and order our food. When were done we head for his house. Were both laughing and joking and when we enter the house we both go silent when we see Darry and Pony crying on the couch.
"Darry? Pony?" Soda asks looking concerned. "Are you alright?"
"Umm, no." Darry says between sobs.
Pony looks into my eyes and walks over to me. He hugs me tight and I hug back. "Lev, your brothers, in the hospital. He got stabbed and he might not make it." Pony wispers in my ear.
I let go and take a step back. A sob escapes my body. I feel Soda's arm wrap around me. Then everything goes black.
