"Alison, Hey!" Elissa, my newest friend, squeals as she walks into the store. "Hey, Elissa."  I reply as she makes her way around the tiny store. "So is today the day you will go surfing with us?" She looks up from the price tag of the orange and yellow surf board. "You know I don't know how to surf." I laugh, fakely. "Maybe I can teach you one day? I mean you can't work in a surf shop and not know how to surf." She jokes. She makes her way to the wetsuits, picks up a pink one, and makes her way to the register. "Yeah maybe. $107.25" I say ringing up her wetsuit. I don't understand why she needs a new one she already has a different one on every time I see her. "Well, catch ya later, Alison." She says, walking out the door. I sit down behind the register and waste away the rest of the day until closing time.

A tall, blonde boy walks into the store. His green eyes melt me inside when he looks at me. "How was work, today?" he smiles and walks over to the register. "Uhm, tiring." I sigh a little then half smile. "Well, it will get better I promise. Oh, I'm Jason." The boss's son. This is the first time I've met him, of course but Mr. Laws talks about his son alot. He's pretty attractive but I wouldn't try getting involved with him anyway. I know in a few weeks, days, hours I will have to be on my way. Any day now Landon will find me and I'll have to make a run for it so I can't get involved with anyone.

" I guess so."

"So are you going down to the beach tonight?" He questions while counting the money in the register.

"No, what for?"

"Tonight's the big night surfing event. It's basically a big party. We surf, eat, dance, and just have fun until like two in the morning. Everyone between 15 and 30 goes!" he laughs and looks up at me from the money. "You have really never been?" He's astonished.

"No, not exactly. I have only lived here for a few months besides I can't surf." The money in his hands hit the floor.

"You can't surf and you work in a surf shop?! That's got to change. Come tonight. You can be my date." he smiles at me and I just look at the floor.

"I can't... I...I can't take your dates spot and I don't have a surfboard." I stutter.

"I didn't have anyone and you can ride mine. It'll be fun!" I give in and smile at him. I know I shouldn't be doing this. If Landon shows up- "So is that a yes?" He smiles walking toward me. "uh, yeah." I reply, turning to walk out the door behind him.

"Good." he smiles at me.  "It starts at six. I'll come get you in a little bit?" He asks getting into his Jeep.

"Actually, can I just meet you here?" I ask feeling embarrassed of where I'm living at this point. I'm saving up money to get my own place but I have to live in this really tiny, ugly room above a garage right now. The older lady is really nice and lets me stay there cheaper if I feed her outside animals everyday before I leave for work. It's the only thing I can afford right now.

"Alright. If you're uncomfortable with me picking you up we can meet here." he smiles at me. "See you in a little bit!" He yells driving away. As I see him fading in the distance I feel a smile plaster across my face. Wow he's perfect.
