7- The Nemeton in Beacon Hills

Castiel popped up into the motel room Dean and Sam were staying in. Dean came out of the shower with a white towel wrapped around his waist. He stood in front of the mirror and wiped the mirror. He looked closely into the mirror and saw Cas right behind him, observing what he was doing. Dean jumped and faced Cas as he covered his perky nipples with his fingers.

"What the hell Cas!" He shouted "A warning would've been nice!" Cas backs up a bit and says "I followed the kanima as you told me."

"And?" Dean said as he leaned against the sink.

"He ran to a tree which was making a peculiar sound as if it were attracting the supernatural and I followed him to his house." Cas said grinning as if he made a huge accomplishment.

"Wait, so you're saying there's a tree that is luring the supernatural here?" Sam said as he slipped off his boots.

"Yes, its deep in the forest." Cas nodded.

"Do you think the boys know about it?" Sam asked Dean.

"Why ask them if we can just chuck the tree down with a chainsaw." Dean said followed by a snicker.

"Not possible," Cas interjected "The tree was already cut down. Only thing remaining is a bit of the trunk and its roots."

"Cas?" Dean said as he stared at him. Cas faced Dean and cocked his head to the right "Why do you always ruin the fun." Cas gave Dean a look and averted his eyes to Sam.

"How about we get some rest and meet up with the boys later." Sam said as he pulled off his socks.

"I like that idea." Dean smiled as he sat on his bed and pulled out some clothes from the drawer.

"I guess I'll just wait here." Cas said as he stood there staring at Sam.

"How about you watch over Dean, like you always do." Sam chuckled as Dean shot him a look. Dean said "You're not watching over me while I sleep." he stared at Cas "Got that!"

Cas lowered his head and he disappeared.

Cas appeared in Stiles room and he jumped for dear life when he noticed him. "Please, stop popping up at random times." Stiles said. "Why?" Cas asks.

"Because the next time you do that," he waved his hands in the air in Cas' direction "I might die of a heart attack." Stiles awkwardly sat down in his chair.

Cas observes everything he does "You're just like your father." Stiles looks at Cas and gave him a confused look "I've been told that but you don't know my father?" Cas nodded his head "But, I do."

Stiles shook his head a little and gave Cas the what the hell look. "Why are you here anyways?" Stiles said.

"The Winchester's didn't want me to watch over them while they sleep." Cas replied. Stiles stood up to him "Oh, you're not watching over me while I sleep, that's a bit creepy."

"Well, I have a few questions then." Cas stared at Stiles.

"Like what?"

"What can you tell me about the tree stump in the middle of the woods." Cas asked as Stiles stared at him intently.

"The Nemeton tree?"

"If that's what it's called."

"A nemeton is a sacred space used by druids for various rituals."

"Druids?" Cas asked if he heard it correctly.

"Yeah, Druids." Stiles continued "The druids picked a large, older tree in a grove to represent the center of the world. Many believed that cutting or harming the world tree would bring severe problems like fires, plagues, strife, death and destruction of all kinds to surrounding villages."

"But why are the supernatural attracted to it?" Cas asked.

"The power of the Nemeton is like a magnet that draws supernatural creatures to itself like a beacon."

"That's why town is called Beacon Hill." Cas added

"I guess so." Stiles said in agreement.

"So, this tree just lures them here?" Cas asked

Stiles nod his head and pulls open his laptop. "What are you going to do?" Cas asks as he stares at the computer. "I'm going to find a way o kill the kanima."

"Do we have to kill it?" Cas asks.

"Depends." Stiles said as he typed some keys into his computer.

"You like to research, don't you?" Cas sits on Stiles bed and picks at a loose string on the blanket.

"Yeah," Stiles stares at Cas then back at the computer and back at Cas "Hey, hey, hey!" he shouted as Cas dropped the loose string and looked scared. "Don't pull the loose strings."

Cas drops his head in disappointment and said "Sorry." He lifted his gaze and stared out the window.

"What's it like?" Stiles asks

"What's what like?" Cas questions.

"Being an angel and heaven, what's it like?"

"It's quite different from your human life. I always find myself confused by what you people do."

"Is my mom there?" Stiles asked. Cas gave a concerning look at Stiles. He had no idea how to respond. He didn't want to say I don't know and keep him wondering or say She is and lie to him. Stiles stared at Cas with a sad look on his face waiting for an answer. "She-she is." Cas says rapidly.

"Great, now I know she's in a safe place." Stiles smiled as he turned back to the computer.

"What do you do?" Stiles asked.

"huh?"

"What do you do on your free time?" Stiles asked again. Cas smiled and replied "I like to stare at the bees and watch nature be free."

"You like nature?" Stiles asked.

"Yeah," Cas replied "and freedom."

"If you like freedom," Stiles pulled away from his laptop and faced Cas "Why do you follow Dean and Sam everywhere?"

"Because they have taught me what love is," Cas stared at his hands "they taught me that I have the right to make my decisions."

"I guess those are great reasons."

The room got silent as Stiles focused on his computer screen and Cas stared across the room.

"I have an idea." Stiles shot up from his seat and stretched his arms, yawning. "What is it?" Cas asked.

"You'll know when I tell the others. Cas rose from Stiles bed as Stiles laid down.

"Castiel?" Stiles said before closing his eyes "I won't mind if you stay in this room for tonight." he yawned "Just don't watch over me." Cas smiled as he saw Stiles eyes shut close.

Just like his father. He thought as he sits in the chair next to Stiles bed.
