The cold was a biting one.
One that would leave a cat frozen up right where they stand if they stayed out to long.
But the she-cat needed answers.
So she faced the cold and wind, and made her way towards the Pointed Stones. The place where medicine cats gathered to speak with Starclan
She did not know if they would speak to her. For she wasn't a medicine cat, nor was she in line for Leader. Yet this question of hers had burned for moons. If she did not get answers this night then she would return again.
And again.
And again.
And again until they were.

The rivers had frozen over. Thick enough for a group of lions to walk across safely. Yet her nerves were still on end when she crossed over.
The ice stung her pads, and she knew they would be cracked and bleeding once she was done. Skunknose wouldn't ask though. They never usually did.
An opening in the ground awaited her once she crossed. Most cats would assume it was nothing more than an old badgers den. She knew better.
Entering lead to a slim tunnel.
The slim tunnel led to a wider opening.
The wider opening lead into a large cavern lit with the moss hanging from the ceiling. In the center of the roof was a large stone surrounded by smaller ones pointing down. It dripped with water into a pool at the bottom.
It was beautiful.
Yet she didn't come here for the sight.

When she woke she was not in the cavern.
Instead she somewhere dark. Illuminated by the stars, and with a heavy fog surrounding the ground.
"Hello?" She called.
It was quiet.
"Hello?" She said louder.
Still nothing.
The she-cat sighed. Of course she wouldn't be getting answers. Why would Starclan speak to a warrior like her.
She put her head down in defeat, ready to wake herself up back into the cavern.
Paw steps could be heard.
The she-cat's head shot up, and out in the distance she saw a shadowy figure come closer. She stood, and waited.
The figure stopped in front of her. It didn't have any distinguishing features. Just a dark pelt filled with stars, and large unblinking irises.
"Hello?" The she-cat asked again.
A heartbeat went by.
"Snakes aren't the only poison in the forest."
"Wh-what?" She stuttered out.
The figure shook their head.
"It's too late."
"What's too late?" She asked as her fur rose in concern.
"Venom already runs through the rivers."
"I-I don't understand."
The figure sighed, and stood, "You will when it's too late."
They started walking away from the she-cat.
"Wait!" She called to them, "Please, I have questions. Questions that could help my clan, and my friend!"
The figure didn't stop, they didn't look back. Just disappeared into the distance.
The she-cat sat in shock. Her trip had left her with more questions, and no answers. She sighed. Of course this didn't work the way she wanted it too. It never did.
She took a step forward only to find the ground was not underneath her.
And she fell.

Hi.
So you're probably wondering why I haven't updated The Soldier, and what this is.
But, uh, I have writers block, and can't find the motivation to finish the next chapter right now. So I figured that maybe writing about something new will help me with that.
Tell me what you think!
Thanks for reading!
