“All you need is 20 seconds of insane courage and i promise you something great will come out of it.”     -Alex

ALEX P.O.V

I slowly open my door trying to peek out to see what my mom was doing. Once i saw her heading to her bedroom i popped out of my room.

“I’m sorry. Mom. Goodnight.”

She turned to look at me and gave me a smile. God, why do i feel so guilty. I close and lock my door to make sure she doesn’t come in to check on me. I quickly and quietly grab Em’s keys off my counter and my leather jacket. I slowly and once again quietly slide my window open. Legs out first i jump to the tree nearest to my window. The wind was blowing the tree way too hard it was bending back and forth. I turned back and slowly closed the window, but not all the way so i had a way to get back in. I climb the tree down branch by branch until i finally reached the ground. I turn to see my house from afar as i see my moms window light turn off. I smile knowing that i might actually get away with this. I got into Em’s car and turned on the engine. I reversed out of my parking lot as fast as i could. I got out my phone as started to text Em.

I’M ON MY WAY. DON'T FORGET THE DRESS YOU'RE GOING TO LET ME BORROW PLZ.

I sent her the text and started to focus on the road until i started to get the dizzy feeling again. The road started getting blurry and the lights made me feel like i was staring directly into the sun. I felt my nose starting to get runny.

Great i’m getting a cold. I felt it get even more runny. I searched through Em’s compartment in her car to see if she had any tissues. I pull some out still with one hand on the wheel watching the, yet still blurry road. I blew my nose into the tissue, Though it felt different. I looked at the tissue that was covered in blood. I tried to get anther tissue as my eyes stayed focused on the road. I grabbed a tissue and held it to my bloody nose as i tried to stay calm. This can’t be possible

I slowly start walking down the stairs holding our clothes and shoes in one hand, and hanging onto the wobbly Stair bar trying to walk down them as quietly as possible. I look to find my dad knocked out, drunk on the sofa with the tv on. Once i reached the bottom of the stairs i started going a little faster towards the door. I put my hand on the doorknob and turned back to see if he heard me at all. I was doing fine until my phone rang the loudest ring ever. It was a text from Alex.

Alex! why now!  I stayed staring at the door with my hand still on the knob. I shut my eyes tightly and just stood there for a while. I was waiting for a yell or a smack across my face. I turned to look at him but he had only moved to a different position still knocked out. I let out a deep breath and walked out the door. I waited outside for Alex until i saw her headlights from a block away. I started running to my car trying to get away from my house and fast as possible.

I saw Em running towards me as i slowed down the car. I grabbed all of the bloody tissues on the passenger seat and wrapped them around a clean tissue and shoved them in my jacket pocket. I didn’t want Em to know about what had happened. I parked the car to the side waiting for her. I pulled down the mirror from the car and checked to see if i did a good job on cleaning all of the blood from me. I quickly push it back up as she opens the door.

 “You okay?” I asked her

“Ya i’m fine.” she says all out of breath.

“Did you get in trouble with your dad from what happened at the park.?” I say as i turn the car off.
